Eau de Toilette

The Scoop
What would a flower that didn't exist smell like? CdG3 was borne from a dream by its creator, in which an electric, incandescent flower shines out of a primordial, lava-filled nothingness. Completely living up to that Sci-Fi inspired dream, CdG3 is a fragrantly opalescent rendering of what it would be like to find a never before seen or imagined flower growing on another planet. By turns bold and elusive, energetic and bewitching, the top and middle notes of black rose oxide, mace, angelica and basil spring up from the earthier base notes of cedar, birch and sandalwood, drying down to a fresh, mysterious, powdery greenness. A seamless blend of modern and organic, seething and subtle, CdG3 captures all that we love about these kind of dreams: pure, tangible possibility.
3 Notes
Basil, mandarin, black currant, magnolia, everlasting flower, angelica, Lebanese cedar, birch essence, sandalwood.

I am beginning to think Comme des Garcons is just hype and nothing more. I have tried a couple of their scents including 3 and 2 and I just don't see what the rave is about. There is nothing unique to these scents. They have all bee done before. It doesn't matter if the notes used were natural or artificial but the end product, still has been done! 3 smells like a mild men's cologne. The other notes are well blended but the basil note masks everything else, sticks out like a sore thumb and gives it that mild masculine edge. You should sample it though. Hey, you might like it. My opinion is just that, mine.

This fragrance totally lives up to the CdG ideal of perfumery creating a positive environment for the wearer. Whenever I wear this on a sad day I always feel like I know everything is gonna be all right. The use of basil is genius. I was so sad today to discover I am running very low.....

I like this scent a lot. It has a spiciness to it that's pretty nice. Too manly on me, though, for some reason.

This actually has been my signature scent for the last year and a half. I wear this almost every day and I could have sworn there were reviews of it on luckyscent a few months ago. Anyhow, it can be hard to describe, sort of a basily floral smell. Not very masculine or feminine, very unisex. No musk, no syrupy lilly, some citrus, but not in a "zesty" way. I think the description on luckyscent is quite accurate on this one. What can I say, its my daily wear! Strangely enough, very few people comment on it. I tend to spray on quite a few pumps to my wrists etc because it is light and doesn't last very long otherwise. I know I started really bathing in it because of a desire for people to notice it. In as long as I've worn it, it's only gotten a few comments. Notably: "who's wearing orchid incense!?" (in a good way) and "God, you smell so good, ahhhh, stop it I can't stand it!" But I'm pretty sure there was only one or two other comments, ever.

perhaps it was the tiles and florescent lights in the CdG Guerrilla Store hidden in the alley... but this scent propels me into an alien world that feels like a memory. I can't stop thinking about it, I went back the next day and bought it. It has affected my dreams for 2 nights so far. A little bit scary and a little bit sad but very provocative and inspiring. this is the FIRST fragrance I ever bought myself. I needed it. I need to know why it is causing such an eerie feeling like I am glimpsing a lost memory. Does anyone know how old it is?

This is a "lightness of being" fragrance whose notes are all pastel in value with few contrasts for a rich contextual background with little specific content. Light green basil + a mix of light flowers gives a fresh outdoors scent that is similar to one of the light Gendarme atmospheric fragrances. But, the cedar and cashmere wood drydown adds warm and pastel wood character that smells like a stack of old books. This is my new "fresh" fragrance.

like the bottle a lot. frag. gave me a really good headache, very girly on me. don't know why. :( ...I paid 65$ for this 6 months ago. can't believe it's doubled in 1/2 a year. would not pay 105 for this. sorry.

a very good summer scent. i think that the flower made of polyurethan, honey and dew would smell like this.

i've worn this scent for a while now, and havent gotten sick of it. probably one of the easier to understand scents by cdg, floral notes, but nonetheless a beautiful one.

This is one of my favorites for sure. It surprises me to read that some people have felt #3 is not complex or not "different" enough. I must assume that it changes dramatically on different skin. I get a complex and futuristic green smell that reminds me of the nectar inside of tropical plants, but not in a syrupy sweet way. I was also impressed with luckyscent shipping. I ordered on a Wednesday night with the cheapest (5-9 day) shipping and my package arrived that Friday (2 days later?). Very exciting moment as I have had a "crush" on this fragrance for over a year. Wore it to bed and had the most amazing dream. Highly recommended.

this started off a bit too manly for me and I'm trying to figure out what note did that because the other notes were really fine. By the end of the day I got a headache - not sure if it was from the #3, though.

love the scent, but after using it in my fragrance rotation for awhile, there's something a bit too sweet or sticky smelling smelling about it. Like maybe it concentrates inside the bottle after a while like a syrup. Can't quite place it, but when I don't want to smell too "sticky sweet" from this one, I turn to Shiso or Calamus from the leaves series.

Great scent! Love CdG, and get the whole idea of that off beaten flower. This being said... really ordinary, in a great way. It's kind of a safe bet. Not overthetop. Not cheep. I think of it as classy. A great nice weather scent. The bottle is AWESOME and this is a very clean, clean, clean scent. You're not going to stand out in a crowd but you know you smell great and got Comme des Garcons on.

This is also my signature scent along with Kyoto from the Incense series. Something about it smells very fresh.... I think it's the basil (which smells much more appealing than the Basil cologne I bought from Demeter.) It also smells a little peppery too. Just perfect for me, not sure if I would recommend this for a woman. I can't wait to wear it when the weather gets warmer although it's just as appealing in the winter as well. I also am quite fond of the bottle design. Reminds me of a artistic glass paperweight or something.

it does smell like men's cologn, it's really light, you'd probably smell like any men wearing this fragrance. people would probably not recognize this smell as special. when i smelled it the second time, it does smell like futuristic flower. if you really like light and refreshing smell this would be it. i personality prefer deep, mysterious, soothing, arousing, and hypnotic smell.

I went crazy looking for this one. I first tried it in L.A. and it brought to mind a very futuristic world of bright neon lights, chrome and glowing celery seed! yes, theres a very metallic sparkle and a crisp vegetal sharpness, and it's absolutely exhillerating on a hot smoggy L.A. day. Though it's listed here as a mens scent - I think it's unisex, women who like rhubabb will probably like this one. It's not floral or sweet at all but a sleek sexy androgynous cool.

" a more wearable version of 2" of course.

It starts out quite like my love sherbet: rhubarb without the rhubarb note of course. A similar green, fresh scent. It dries more like mosquite repellant, like a milder, more pleasant and wearable version of 3 which is pure, strong, single note mosquito repellant galore on me. It's actually not so bad. 2 is way to sharp but the more subtle 3 is alright and I really enjoy the wet stage.

CDG is a line that stands alone in creativity and challenges the wearer with unique scents. Not as complex as drugstore scents?...Wow...one can only marvel at the differences in our sense of smell . CDG 3 has one of the most complex evolutions of any fragrance I own. Is it weird and quirky? Yes, but it is also an approachable friend that I embrace because it proclaims it's difference in a humble way, and I appreciate friends like that.

Not a bad scent but not yummilicious either. I tried it for about 60 seconds and decided it had to go. I like fruity, floral, sweet, vanilla and spice notes on myself- this had none of those. It struck me, that it doesn't smell like an expensive perfume. It's not BAD smelling, it's just not more complex than stuff you'll find at a drugstore. It might smell fantastic on YOU - but definitely do not buy without trying a sample first!

Totally incredible. Definetly lives up to the description. Great daytime smell. The basil gives it an vaugely metallic, almost astringent sparkle.

My favorite CdG scent along with Kyoto. I feel this may become my signature scent. The green in this is addictive and you will not smell like everyone else for sure.
