Gourmandises
Eau de Parfum
by Keiko Mecheri

The Scoop
Warm, soft and intriguingly complex. This opens with a puff of sweet powder and warms into a sophisticated, elegant scent with traces of caramel and an absolutely edible rose. This is powdery, but we’re not talking baby powder here – the saffron keeps it very adult and somewhat mysterious. For some people this could be a comfort scent, for others a sexy scent. We think it walks the fine line between them – a cozily alluring blend that’s perfect anytime.
Gourmandises Notes

I really wanted to like this as I love the bottle! Smells like berry compote in a wierd artificial sweetener kind of way. Didnt really develop into anything interesting at all. Kinda cheap smelling.

I dont know about the others but this is to me not a gourmand at all! Powdery and rosy, ok... But why would I use this when Loukhoum is the best in that category :)

This did not smell at all gourmand or foody. This came off as a very strong and overwhelming floral (I smelled two). The type of perfume that you may find stuck like a thick cloud to older church ladies the world over. It ended up smelling generic and overpowering and not at all sophisticated. Kind of like grandma...but not in a good way.

Love it! I think I may have to buy a FB. It is feminine and sophisticated without being too sweet or overwhelming. The description is exactly spot on. It lasts pretty long too. Good for night and day.

I love this scent! I've been wearing it for 3 years and I constantly get complements on it from friends and strangers, men and women. I do think the scent depends on an individual's own chemistry. A friend loved it so much on me, that, she bought a sample. Unfortunately, she did not like it on herself - but, she still loves it on me and will still lean over to smell me!

I don't get any pepper.

I thought this would be sweet/foody, but instead it was pretty and a bit peppery. Usually I find peppery notes distracting, but it was very subtle and nicely blended in this (was that the saffron note?)

This doesn't really smell like anything. It just has a really sort of annoying, disharmonious pong.

This could have been nice. Either the rose is a cheap synthetic or there is another floral note in there that is giving me a headache. When I manage to smell past the rose there is something nice and warm in the background.

I get a lot of rose but not much else on this. It was very sharp on me, almost peppery. I didn't get the other notes. I'm sure it's pretty on others, just not right for me.

I love this one! it's first rosy and powdery on me, in a nice way, not an old lady way. and soon it develops into something kind of spicy and warm. Very sexy!

When I received my sample, it came with Keiko "Myrrhe et Merveilles" as well. I'm kind of thinking that the tester vials may have gotten switched somewhere along the way! On my wrists the "Gourmandises" is the sweeter of the two, the "Merveilles", the more powdery. Anyhow, the sweeter of the two is that happy ground between comforting and sexy... a great place to be.

Opens with an interesting spicy rush but quickly morphs into a powdery rose. Smells like rose petal sachets my grandmother kept in her armoire. Very old-fashioned and definitely not for the under 65 set.

Gourmandises is fabulous! Keiko Mecheri's line never ceases to amaze me because her scents are all so different from each other as well as different from other lines. Gourmandises is startlingly original and because of this, quite provocative. It started out on me with a blast of sharp saffron. I initially thought this was going to be quite spicy but the saffron moved to the background quickly and a stunning, dreamy rose fragrance came forward. After awhile I notice what I think of as a "jam" smell, and a hints of something that could be nuts, which I assume is the "praline"; but it's not at all my usual idea of the smell of praline. The "caramel" note suggested in the fragrance description completely escapea me, but I don't care. Gourmandises doesn't need it. When I think of "edible" smelling Keiko Mecheri fragrances, my beloved Loukhoum comes to mind. However, believe me, if you're looking for something that smells like Loukhoum, you won't find it in Gourmandises. This is "gourmand" in the way that Serge Lutens "Arabie" is "gourmand." All the notes can be associated with food, and the combination of them is completely unlike candy.Gourmandises is, as previously described, a beautiful rose scent that's mysterious and unique.

This was definitely by far one of the most cacophonous scents I have ever tried, just short of a four year old making "potion" out of his mother's perfumes. But I can't really complain, the notes don't even come across as complimentary, just interesting. This one is so sticky sweet with a really undeterminable flavor, the rose is ominous, the musk is over-confident. Don't like it. Smells weird, dry down is generic and unattractive.

I got all of the notes listed plus sun tea. For those of you who don't know, sun tea is a lemon ice tea that is made by leaving freshly brewed tea in the warm, summer sun of the deep south. This is an edible, sexy and comforting scent, but you will be caught off guard by the lemon tea if you read the Luckyscent description.

I love fresh roses, but find the smell in fragrances too overpowering...this one is just the right balance...the rose is overlaid with the jam, praline and saffron...slighlty sweet, but also mysterious...bought a sample but will buy a bottle.

What a lovely fragrance. All of my favorite smells in one. Caramel, sweet rose and a suggestion of powder, but not baby powder. The saffron brings it all together and is delightful.

This ended up as a tart berry on me...very little, if any, of the rose came into play. It's a bright scent to me, and I would definitely buy a bottle.

a rose loukhoum you would find in the soukh of marrakesh, between exotic fruits, spices and balsams

After sampling nearly the whole KM line, I've finally found the scent for me! Subtle, sweet--a fragrance that doesn't shout, but whispers insinuatingly. While the rose-petal jam notes are most prominent, everything blends together seamlessly to create a gourmand scent that's delicious yet not foody, as someone else noted. Don't be so quick to judge. This fragrance will grow on you.

Unfortunately, this was a disappointment to me. I initially smelled rose and powder, more rose than in Loukhoum (which I like). Then something... I'm thinking it's this citrus component. Whatever it is, it's strong and cloying, almost spicy, and hurts my nose. This is from one spritz... may be a chemistry thing.

When I got the sample I was thinking this would be a new fragrance to replace my dearly loved Loukhoum, and it is wonderful but more Rose and citrus on me, I didn't get the powdery or jam and didn't last as well. Still a very nice change of pace and I would buy it.

Oh, gosh, I don't get any of the notes that are listed. It did not strike me as a powdery scent at all. On me it's a citrusy-rose scent. Wonderful, yes, but not at all what I expected. (I was expecting something more like Loukhoum--powdery and sweet.) I got a touch of the jam notes, but no praline, no saffron, no musk. Still, it's a great scent, just not at all what I thought it would be.

Hmmm. Really interesting. I definitely get rose, but it's not anywhere close to a regular rose scent on me. It's foody, but a very exotic food - rose water ice cream, which I have actually eaten at Mashti Malone's. I think they have a saffron ice cream, as well. I usually hate rose scents ( I hated the ice cream, too), but I don't mind this one. I think it's the saffron -- it really comes forward on my skin.

If you like rose, go for this. This is not a gourmand scent, but a lovely rose scent, no more no less to me. The description is not accurate compared to the way it smells on the skin. It's a nice rose scent.

I bought this unsniffed and I wasn't disappointed. If KM Hanae had a nighttime version this would be it. Everything good about Hanae, but deeper, fuller, richer, sexier. Gourmand yes, but not foody. All the notes blend together for a more linear opening. On Keiko's soft powdery white musk base. Mouthwatering and delicious!
