Aoud Leather Eau de Parfum by Montale

Oud and leather couldn’t be a better match, and Pierre Montale has already offered a masterful rendition of the accord with his cult fragrance Aoud Cuir d’Arabie.
In this new blend, instead of birch tar, the leather facets of the oud are brought out by the cool, licorice-like isobutyl quinolin, a material used to great effect in classic chypres like Bandit. The oud’s medicinal aroma is set off by cool, aromatic cardamom, the metallic bitterness of saffron and an earthy, mossy ambergris base.
The lime that is often Montale’s signature top note throws its green flashes into the dusky brew; the peppery facets of bergamot are underlined by a dash of pepper. This is leather played cool and spicy. And you know there can never be too many leathers.
