just got this today, I have read all the comments on LUI this scent is ,yes awesome one thing I notice about scents that come out at first like this one ,it tends to come on strong, with scents like this you must wait, i mean wait for the drydown thats when the party happends im so glad that i purchased LUI the dr owswar not to sweet and well, its one awesome mens cologne othint i do find vyin hey all seem to all the basic scent note to findh just could be the scent your trying to find could take some time so most of us men look at the reviews, and it can be sad when you see that there is more women writing bad reviews so i say men write mor reviews ,this LUI is a must have but wait for the drydown you will be happy

When lightly applied this really shines as a dark, smoldering Patchouli based scent. The Patchouli takes twists and turns and finally gives way to a wonderful Ambergris base. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful - though apply it lightly or you won't like it.

For some reason when I put it on, my skin turned it into a Patchouli dump - "Eau d'Headshop" - and was rather strong as well. Unfortunately the Patchouli stayed strong the entire time until - finally - a reach ambery base was revealed underneath a thick blanket of Patchouli. I cannot wear this since on my skin it really is about one note - Patchouli - to the exclusion of all else until 12 hours later. I wanted to like this, but I suppose on my skin it doesn't play well. I love Patchouli - just can't justify liking something that could be approximated on my skin with a dab of Patchouli essential oil.

Agree with Joe F's comments, apart form AG- Sables. They both are miles apart on my skin. I've worn this a few times now and it puts most men's fragrances in the shade. I'm going to buy another when i'm half way through this one, to make sure I don't run out!

Oh, sorry, forgot one thing; the only problem with this, if it is a problem at all, IMHO, is that when Lui dries down, it is not unlike Sables by Annick Goutal. They don't start out alike, but in the dry down there's quite a bit of similarity. If you have that, you might not want this. But if not, Lui would be a great choice.

Lui is a magnificent strong (at first) fragrance that might seem to be initially overpowering, but it mellows into something like a gourmande fragrance of almost indescribable beauty. I say "almost" because no one category would do this fragrance justice. The first thing I noticed was an unusaul note of something that reminded me of the kind of machine oil that you might experience in a somewhat dirty workshop-- rags and all; or maybe a painters studio. It morphs into a beautiful, rich, scent that works best in a casual context, or an evening formal context that is less than entirely conventional. It is anti-establishment; it is not what you expect; and could have been the fragrance of Picasso.

Way too many new fragrances are samey, dull and unremarkable. Glad I found this. Deep, powerful but refined. Great evening scent. Get a sample, you'll realise it's worth the price-tag. I've always loved patchouli but it goes sweet on me. This time it didn't. As Borat would say..... Nice, I like!!

Lui is one scent that has elicited more positive comments than any other in my wardrobe. As has been stated, it lasts for hours, and the drydown is just so very nice. I can't think of any other scent that compares. Wonderfully masculine, yet comforting and should be be in every man's repetoire of fragrances.
