The Scoop
CdG's legendary eau de parfum was originally released in 1994 and considered by most CdG fans to be their finest. Eau de parfum is hailed as a fragrance that "works like a medicine, behaves like a drug". A sparkling array of spices awaken the senses, with notes of cinnamon, rose and clove. Like a balm, the scent invades the body--woody and resin work in concert with harmonies of honey and cedarwood. Full of softness and warmth…the complexity subsides.

Engagingly original and intriguingly contradictory. It's strong, spicy, and harsh while also being gentle, warm and soft. This scent is kind of incredible. There's a reason we're all still buying it.

I wore this when it first came out also, and I agree that it seems to smell very different than it did originally. What is it? I still wear it, but it's not as....smooth. Glad they started making it again, though, even if it has changed a bit.

I used to adore this perfume. USED TO. My recent purchase of it with Luckyscent put me off for the rest of my life. Althought the packaging of CdG seemed original and stated that the perfume was manufactured in Spain, the smell was a faint shadow of what it used to be. It's no longer EDP - it's WATER! Cheap, ugly water. Can anyone tell me what happened? Have they changed the formula? New ingredients? Less ingredients? I don't blame Luckyscent. I blame CdG for breaking my heart on this one.

The Luckyscent description fits well, "works like a medicine, behaves like a drug". Medicinal and hypnotic incense spice - but it is not a gentle drug. Test it carefully first.

This smells just as wonderful now as it did when I started wearing it in college. I couldn't find it for a while, and the bottle I've had for years just didn't smell the same. Just bought a new one the other day from this site and am so pleased to smell this classic scent in all it's intoxicating glory! Very refreshing and vibrant. None of the other CDG scents have reached this level of balance.

This reminds me of Dyptique's L'eau--the geranium and clove are most apparant. Although I like this fragrance, I feel the sweetness detracts slightly from the soft spiciness. Overall, though, a soft, lovely fragrance!

This goes on strong in a good way because it is basically soft fragrances amped up. Cinnamon, hay, woods, spice and something comforting like vanilla give this the overall feeling of inhaling the Yogi Tea one finds in health food stores. It's really great. And the awesome bottle doesn't hurt either!

A wonderful fragrance that combines the best etheeal incense woods with dry resonating spice. Smells oddly medicinal like whatever you splash this juice onto will probably experience a healing. Blends the best of Corso Como + L'homme Sage + Kyoto = Original CdG.

in finland we have this hot christmastime drink called glögi, and this smells exactly like it! so i can only wear it before xmas, because whenever i spray it on, somebody nearby shouts: mmm, who's offering glögi here? , and after xmas it's quite embarrassing. i love it though! the first time i sprayed it on, it almost brought tears in my eyes not reminding me about christmas at all.

they say CDG White is softer version of EDP Original. Original is too sweet for my taste. It is very interesting and deep, but too "obvious" if you know what I mean. I can recognize everything in it: nutmeg, honey... In CDG White my perception does not work str8 way. Try CDG White - you'll love it :P

Smells like the eau de cologne but stronger and better. This is what I imagine the smell of spring to be. I don't get the pot pourri thing but I do smell the hay and geraniums, wicked strong...in a good way. However, if you're not into weird scents or spicy scents this may not be the one for you.

This one is really hardcore. It is impossibly intoxicating, totally original, shocking, and dreamy at the same time. I love how the clove and cardamom really rise to this surface. That is what makes it so heavy and etheral at the same time. I absolutely adore this perfume. However, this one is definetly not for everyone.

In addition to 'works like a medicine' they need to say 'smells like a medicine too' I disagree with the other reviewer who said it is not strange or weird! If you want a combination smell of hay and a doctor's office, then this could be your fragrance. Otherwise proceed with caution.

I just gave my Brute wearing husband this cologne today. I sprayed it on and said "smell". He says "that's nice, I like it". Then he made fun of the bottle--"you paid for a bottle that don't stand up?"--when I showed him the Luckscent description of this sexy, beautiful spicy potion, he said--"that's a little WORDY idn'tit?
