Here's what other people are saying about XJ Richwood...
A sophisticated and elegant Western Oriental, this is a lovely but slightly unoriginal (It shares similarities with Coromandel) woody chypre with high quality ingredients . The perfume has a brief citrusy opening with notes of lemon, grapefruit and mandarin. Similarly the heart is brief as well with notes of rose and black currant. It settles very rapidly into its creamy powdery base of Mysore sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, labdanum and musk. The ingredients are all superb and the perfume is blended well with the creamy patchouli sandalwood blend dominating throughout its stay. Unisex with moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. This is beautiful.

Like the previous poster (Hari), I mostly just get rose and sandalwood here too. But man, do I like it! Longevity is out of this world (12+ hours on me); extremely potent stuff. If it were priced more reasonably, like Dhajala or Nio, I would buy a bottle in a second. But at almost $600, I will have to be happy with a decant now and again. Fabulous scent though. Projects like mad.

I wish I could afford an entire bottle of this because this is the best sandalwood I have ever smelled in my entire life. This concoction is so incredibly smooth and beautiful you need to try it!! Long lasting too but I just can't justify the price. I don't get any rose, but that's ok-I bought it for everything else it contains. I have enough rose fragrances.

This is so very beautiful, soft and sensual. It's very unisex. I love the longevity too. Very worth it for a sample but I've got to make it last since it's $610 a bottle!

Rose + Sandalwood is all I get here. Extremely highly priced. Would not recommend this at all. There are better sandalwood compositions than this. Radio Bombay by DS & Durga is a really great sandalwood perfume. And it costs 1/5 th of this perfume.

I first tried this in 2011 and must say four years later that it is still my holy grail. I wore it through law school (sometimes just to wear and enjoy and sometimes for special occasions; I wore it with jeans and sweatshirts and I wore it with ballgowns and pearls). Bar none, it is the one fragrance that both men and women told me smelled amazing on me. Two female friends told me they wanted to "like my neck" and my male friends always commented on how good I smelled. The price point really is up there, but I have to say that it is the one fragrance that I have ever found to be really worth it. It will be a very sad day for me if Xerjoff ever reformulates this amazing fragrance.

This is an opulent rich fragrance of sandalwood, rosewood and patchouli. What makes it so rich is the rose is very intense due to cassis. I know lots of people love this fragrance but I think it is too rich and rosey. I tried to like it wearing it numerous times but sorry it is cloying on me. I highly suggest testing this overripe oriental woods before joining the parade of worshippers.

A citrus sandalwood? Interesting. It opens with lovely warm deep sandalwood, lots of casssis, and deep rose. I don't find a citrus, but the cassis is tart and bright enough, makes you start thinking about wanting a bottle of champagne for a Kir Royale. The cassis and rose roll around and almost give it a gourmand opening. Hours later, the cassis just starts to fade and the really wonderful sandalwood and amber hang around. It has no harsh notes and is well-blended in that it is very consistent, balanced, and gentle in it'd progress. No hard or scary turns. Very much in the line of the other products of this house. Expensive, yes, and it feels it.

Ridiculously priced? Definitely. Worth every penny? Absolutely. This is the fragrance I've always been looking for. Just right. Warm, fresh, sophisticated, anytime, and anywhere.

OMG. Would someone like my first child? Seriously, I don't have any kids, and not planning on being Rapunzel, but this stuf is AMAZING. Let me just say that the first 1/2 hour I was not impressed. It was Patch He-- (too much like Angel), howeiver, after that it became a creamy delight and is just lovely. The fragrance is a 5, however, the price brings it way down in my estimation. I'll give it a 4, when I factor in price (really should be a 2 for price, but the fragrance is all that). I thought the Killian's were up there, this takes it to a whole other level. Exclusivity in fragrances is going just way too far.

This is an incredible sandalwood/patchouli blend. For those curious about a general idea of what to expect, imagine a Chanel Coromandel, with a creamier sandalwood, less aldehydes and powder, and a more natural patchouli. You'll really be impressed from top notes to the base. I immediately smiled when I first smelled a swipe on the hand. What's even more incredible is that it has amazing lasting power. Just a few swipes on the back of the hand lasted for over 8 hours, and could still be detected after showering! Very high quality stuff without the synthetic feel that you might sometimes find in something with comparable lasting power. This and XXY are by far my favorite from the 17/17 line.
