Oud for Love

Eau de Parfum

The Scoop

“I'm in the m…oud for love”. Not just another pun. And not just another oud. First off, because unlike many fragrances that boast the note in the name, Oud for Love does actually contain the precious oil, sourced in Laos by Bertrand Duchaufour. But also because, unusually, this particularly luscious oud sprouts a vampy floral bouquet – tuberose and ylang-ylang – that adds curves to the potion. A fresh, agrestic combination of pink pepper and coriander brightens the lash of whisky in the top notes. A soft drizzle of caramel sweetens the vetiver and sandalwood base and adds to the sexy yumminess.

Conceived at the same time as Oud Shamash – The Different Company's CEO loved both proposals so much he couldn't pick, so he decided to put out the two – Oud for Love is also unisex. But it might entice women who find most oud offerings too macho to give in. Tuberose and leather: what's not to love?

Here's what other people are saying about Oud for Love...
I have yet to sample a "The Different Company" fragrance that isn't magnificent. I think I have found my perfume house spirit animal!! Oud for Love starts out very resinous, smokey and leathery with heavy amber. It takes a good two hours for these top notes to dissipate before I am greeted with whiskey, balsam, sandalwood and musk. It is in its drydown that I start to smell some of the heavier florals curving around this caramel sandalwood. I even get the heliotrope! All "The Different Company" fragrances develop marvellously on my skin - they are never linear and the stories that unfold whilst wearing these scents are marvellous: rich, interesting and ones that keep you guessing! Yes, the range is expensive, but the ingredients are of high quality, the sillage is amazing and the lasting power phenomenal. Great for a man or woman as it is neither overtly masculine or feminine. I would definitely share this with hubby (if I allowed him a look in)! I LOVE and would buy every fragrance in this line if I had a bottomless bank account! Divine!

Wonderful, boozy, smooth and lightly sweet-spicy oud!! Perfectly unisex. Whiskey and balsam add depth, spices a bit of intrigue and florals lift the entire composition and add a touch of powder in the dry down. I typically have a tough time with oud finding it to brash and hard to wear; and this is by far one of my favorites and easy to wear, try it!

This is a sweet oud leaning more toward the feminine between Oud for Love's sister, Oud Shamash, which is a drier, dustier, woody fragrance. Oud for Love is nonetheless unisex and very pleasant and aromatic. There isn't anything dark or ranky about this juice. This often scares away the anti oud critics. I can't decide which one I like more Shamash or Love...so I guess I will need to buy them both. If you ask my opinion, both are blind buy worthy! 4 out of 5 stars
