The Scoop
In Maori, an Eastern Polynesian language and the language of the Maori people, the indigenous population of mainland New Zealand, “Whanui ” means something all-encompassing and balanced, perfectly reflecting the nature of this fragrance. It’s also the word for vanilla.
This particular vanilla fragrance, however, is meant for those who typically shy away from vanilla. Whanui opens with cool, fluid minty notes, offering a dry, creamy vanilla that avoids sticky-sugary sweetness. Instead, it emphasizes balsamic undertones, creating a subtle composition that stays close to the skin. The woody and musky elements linger subtly in the background, providing depth and a harmonious foundation to the fragrance.
This is a fragrance that can be worn year-round. In the hot summer months it wears fresh and elegant. In the cooler months the cooler notes offer an alternative to more dense, heavier compositions.
If Whanui were a color, it would be Tiffany Blue—fresh, refined, and distinctive.
