The Scoop
Be it the perfumed notes received by Madame D. with their Grand Budapest Hotel letterhead; or the letters from the young runaway lovers in Moonrise Kingdom: letter paper is a recurring element in Wes Anderson’s films. This inspired the idea of creating a letter-writing notepad featuring eight of the filmmaker’s iconic films, printed on Astier de Villatte’s letterpress presses, in collaboration with the artist-edition house We Do Not Work Alone and with the inspiring participation of Wes Anderson himself.
The inside of the notebook features eight letterheads each inspired by one of his films—The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, The Darjeeling Limited, Hotel Chevalier, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Rushmore, The French Dispatch, and The Phoenician Scheme—with sixteen sheets of letterhead for each film, all in one notebook. The covers of the notepads, all different, are hand-printed on old Heidelberg machines and reproduce a geometric pattern: the print of Benicio del Toro’s kimono in The Phoenician Scheme, the director’s most recent film.
