The Grudge

Inspired by the ‘white gold’ that appears occasionally on Scottish beaches and the alchemy of time & tide, The Grudge finds beauty in the unexpected: the journey of ambergris from the craw of the sperm whale, rolled on the tide, retrieved from a beach and tinctured into a bottle. It opens bitterly with wormwood and copal resin, fading to a herbal, saline, contemplative heart with tea, seaweed and calamus. And then, in a miraculous work of olfactive transformation, an unforgettable base of warm ambergris and rich, sweet, oud-laced tobacco coaxes a smooth, precious rebirth out of what was once bitter. Elegant, brutal, and raw, it's a metaphor for the alchemy of presence.
