If you've spent any time on fragrance internet, which I assume you have if you're watching this video, then I'm sure you've heard of Escapade Gourmande by Maison Mataha. This was a huge viral sensation and it's a really perfect black sugar vanilla bean tonka musk fragrance.

If you love a sort of rich decadent gourmande with that caramelized brown sugar scent, this is for you. It's supposed to smell kind of like crème brûlée and it does have that kind of burnt sugary top crust that you want to crack with a spoon.

I also think this smells a little bit like chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. It has that slightly salty maybe a hint of chocolate, a little doughy piece of sweetness surrounded by all that vanilla. This is a wonderful gourmande that you can't miss if you're into gourmands.

I think this smell is cringe worthy, when it is sprayed on your skin it is so strong and artificial. I will say, it does have some projection and if you want to smell like a fake vanilla cupcake, you definitely will. I think gourmands are nice but this particular one has ZERO nuance or complexity. I will not be purchasing, it simply don't want to smell artificial.

I bought this perfume because I was following the hype. The bottle is gorgeous and clearly feels luxurious! However, the scent is not special to me. It is dark vanilla forward, but does smell synthetic to me. It also dries down salty on my skin, which I learned, I do not love. I wish it had one more note, possibly a fruit or a pepper? I will be using, but will not re-purchase.

This smells synthetic, I’ve had this for a while. I’ve tried to like this so many times, layer it, let it sit, but it smells artificial. This isn’t worth the price. I haven’t made a dent in this and it’s been over a year. I don’t understand the hype for this, even though I know body changes scents, it smells like Play-Doh out the bottle. No spray, not even the drydown can change the smell.

I wish I can love this like everyone else, but I hate it soooo much. It’s not gourmand for me. It’s sickening. Any perfume that reminds me of this, I automatically hate. I can’t stomach this at all. Makes me sick and wanna vomit.

This perfume continues to grow on me. My sample smelled almost sickly sweet and fairly artificial, but I purchased the full bottle and it's way more grounded. It is quite sweet at the top, but fades into a warm, elegant brown sugar and toasted vanilla. If you find Bianco Latte too artificial, you may prefer Escapade Gourmand ! 4.5/5

This is definitely a unisex gourmand, not masculine nor feminine, somewhere in the middle. This is an elevated version of BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar. It smells like a musky vanilla with a hint of caramelized sugar.

Sampling this and it's not bad, but not mind-blowing either. The journey of this perfume isn't too complex - it's straight-up black sugar and vanilla all the way down, with some musk at the very later stages of the wear. Not much notes-wise to pick apart but it is very powerful - like an actual sugar bomb. I found this to be a bit too sweet and bordering on cloying, particularly the sugar note. I guess it's fine, just have to be conscious of over spraying. I can understand the pricing given the concentration and bottle design, but it is still quite simple. I want to try layering this with a non-gourmand scent because I fear this with another sweet fragrance would put me in a migraine-induced coma.

I wear this by itself on top of oils and it lasts all day. The smell is multi-layered. At first spray, you get vanilla, then it starts settling into caramel creme brulee, then it dries into an amber, musky vanilla. I have gotten so many compliments on this as I'm waking past people. I have to keep this fragrance in my arsenal. .

This is an over-priced warm vanilla sugar from Bath & Body Works. Smells good, but not worth the price when you can get the exact same thing for $20 and have it last just as long.

It is a beautiful vanilla, but nothing more. I would not pay this price for a full bottle of such a basic, one note perfume. Nice, but not FB worthy.

Such an amazing gourmand perfume. It last me about six hours and is can easily be mixed with other fragrances! It’s a vanilla desert. I seen so many reviews on TikTok, so I blind bought it and am so glad I did.

I adore this perfume, sweet, comforting and buttery. You can layer this or wear on its own and it will never disappoint. Careful because it draws in a lot of attention.

Smells like a linear vanilla. I love a good gourmand, but this is not one that I would wear on its own, but I would use it to layer on my skin. The longevity is fair.

This is a warm and familiar scent. While it feels a bit generic, it's pleasant and I have no complaints. It wasn't unique enough to make it into my collection, but it's certainly inoffensive. Overall, it’s a nice, easygoing fragrance that’s suitable for everyday wear.
