Kitsunegari is owner Ali's homage to Guerlain's famous "Habit Rouge", long enamored with its classical Old World style, dripping charm and sophistication.

Similarly, Kitsunegari echoes classic masculinity with a sharp barbershop opening consisting of fresh basil and a balanced citrus cocktail of bergamot, lime, lemon and tangerine which is subtly blended with velvety orange blossom. The presence of musky labdanum elevates this fresh and fragrant scent into a different space. Resinous benzoin adds a balsamic twist to sensual amber, and grassy oakmoss brings a cosiness to overall sophistication, being tempered by the earthiness of patchouli.

What We Think

An initial crunchy citrus bite gives way to a powdery carnation and rose combination that will have any lover of classical fragrances taken aback. Guerlain is truly done justice in this modern retelling of a timeless scent.

I really liked the initial spray. It’s a very classic chypre composition with a warm rose heart. A bit like Memo’s French Leather. The oakmoss and leather were a bit too prominent on my skin and gave this animalic, slightly offensive edge. Not for me, better on someone whose skin chemistry can tolerate leather.

This is an instant favourite, I bought a bottle immediately after getting the sample. On me, it's mainly jasmine and rose, with a splash of patchouli. I wore it on its own for a few weeks, wanting to wear it daily because it's perfect for me. I had to force myself to wear other scents from my collection. Then yesterday, I sprayed this one after applying Rahua's Body Oil -- and there we go, I know my signature scent now. This scent is comforting and inspiring, and I don't feel I smell like anyone else. Instant love.

This is an absolute instant favorite! Both my boyfriend and I (female) tried it and we got totally different smells, but it was amazing on both of us. On him, it reminded me of a jasmine tea with strong citruses. On me, I smelled the rose, sandalwood, patchouli and benzoin. It's interesting what body chemistry can do. I have not smelled Habit Rogue, so I don't know how similar this is, but I love this one!
