Here's what other people are saying about HYLNDS - Spirit Of The Glen...
The opening is sweeter than I might have liked -- like that first sip of freshly poured whiskey, the fragrance really needs a moment to sort itself out post-bottle. Just give it a moment until that hay note takes the field, though, and ones patience is lavishly rewarded. DS & Durga is of course without equal in the precise creation of wood scents in all their forms -- living, dry, charred, fresh-hewn, seasoned -- and the yeasty, almost metallic simulacra of bourbon barrel and sherry cask (theres your vanilla!) is so delicious its distracting. Youll find yourself in a reverie not unlike that found about three-quarters the way down a proper glass of whiskey -- the spirit of the glen, indeed.

To test the relationship between Spirit of the Glen and Glenlivit''s 18-year beauty, I first made a double Glenlivit 18-year on the rocks, then spayed, sipped, and observed. In truth, I smelled and tasted the association immediately. The opening, in particular, is like the first sip. After that, things begin to warm up a bit and the color rises in the cheeks. A really lovely vanilla develops and stays with you for the rest of the night and into the next day....I neither absconded with a bourbon barrel or a vanilla-smelling stranger, so I have only Glenlivit proper and Spirit of the Glen to thank for the amazing ride.

Wow -not what I was expecting - very interesting! the pineapple accord comes through - almost as if someone mixed a single malt with pineapple juice - but that would not do it justice as other subtle scents abound - that bourbon-aged cask smell too. I''d have to wear it longer to make a final verdict, but for sure worth sampling and more complex than you might guess.

First thing you smell here is pepto-bismol, fleeting - then a kind of warm varnish - eventually settles into a boozy, slightly nut-y vanilla. Not bad, but not nearly as fascinating as the text above makes it sound.

This is such an interesting fragrance. Its warm and sweet without being syrupy. This is a multi-layered and sophisticated scent. The slightly sour whiskey combines beautifully with the sweetness of vanilla. This very unique and delicious scent is a masterpiece in my opinion. At the very least, get a sample and give it a shot!
