Scent Bar Staff Video Review for Mixed Emotions

Video Transcript

I'm so excited that today we're launching a new fragrance from BYREDO and it's called Mixed Emotions. Trust me, I have no mixed emotions with this one. I'm extra excited because it's a tea scent and I generally love tea fragrances. I just find them so refreshing, so easy to wear and the perfect choice for warmer weather.

So, it's a black tea smell but you also get a little bit of matte and then the violet leaves. It's not a floral scent. In fact, the violet plays a really beautiful secondary part here. And then birch coming through in the dry down.

It is different from other tea fragrances that I wear. For example, it's less sweet than Nomad tea from Comme des Garcons. It's less citrusy than Wulong Cha from Nishane. And it's less fruity than Wilhelm's Dear Polly. It is what it is. I love it. I'm going to get a lot of wear out of Mixed Emotions.

This is a gorgeous scent! It is exactly as described in the text and in the Instagram video. Exactly. If you like a slightly woody scent with the rich addition of black currant and black tea, this is for you. It does go on a bit smoky but that is the top note. The lingering scent is slightly powdery. It is a wearable, delicious frangrance. I realize that perfumes smell different on different people, but the woman who has commented 'Vicks Vaporrub & orange tictacs' has a bad cold and bad breath :-)

At first, I was intrigued by the short movie Mixed Emotions, which lead me to blind buy the scent right after. I have smelled and owned many of Byredo’s offerings but Mixed Emotions is my favorite, my number one and on my short list of favorite five fragrances of all time. I’ve seen a lot of hate for this scent but to me, it’s an absolutely must try, must own. Like many Byredo, it’s an extremely “feeling good” scent. It definitely does that for me.

Thank goodness I only ordered a sample! This is one of the worst fragrances I've ever tried (I am a serial sample-orderer). I never know what to expect from Byredo but this knocked me off my feet and not in a good way. The first note for me was stale sweat, followed by feet and a touch of urine. It's got a real sour and sharp scent. I let it sit for 10 minutes and it didn't change much. I definitely don't need to try this one again...yuck!
