Here's what other people are saying about Vanilla...
Butter butter butter Vanilla vanilla vanilla fruity fruity cling cling cling cling till you get up & wash it off! Great if you like REALLY CLINGY, FRUITY-SWEET vanillas

I wasn't sure I liked this at first; it's more French Vanilla than I normally like, and less spicy... but it's intoxicating quality quickly grew on me, and now I'm on my third sample... it has amazing staying power and the dry down is wonderfully creamy, subtle and sweet. It's a comforting fragrance that I tend to gravitate towards on Fridays after a long work week, when I need a little extra sweetness and comfort in my life. Will eventually splurge on the FB ^_^

Is this as perfect as the original body shop vanilla oil, the rich dark oil with the black square lid from the 1990's? The answer is sadly "No" but after purchasing dozens of vanilla perfume oil in my quest for a replacement, I have to say this is the closest so far. It does not last as long or smell so perfect and it is expensive, but it is close. For those of you searching for a replacement for the body shop original, this is worth a try.

Based on the reviews about this being the best vanilla, blah blah blah, I really thought I was going to love this: all I want in life is to smell like a baked treat. But this is cloying, synthetic, plasticky, chemically, and downright annoying. It gives me a headache. It reminds me of something you'd smell in a mechanic's garage and a bathroom at a Lutheran church.

Well, not so bad. But not so good. It's more like sandalwood and a little vanilla on me.

This one missed the mark for me. I wasn't even a vanilla fan until I tried Tihota. Jalaine reminds me of why I didn't like most vanilla scents. It's too mall-y and a bit cheap smelling. This is going to sound stupid, but it smells like perfume. I want to smell good, not like perfume.

I love vanilla in many ways, and I was ready to fall for this hook line and sinker. Thankfully for my purse, there is something about this that is not sitting quite right with me.... I don't know what. I mean there are only 2 notes in here! I own that many vanillas it's not funny and I have to say absolutely none have ever come close to the perfection of the Body Shop's original vanilla. However tihota did come a close-ish second and so was added to my massive collection about a year ago. This is deep and rich like tihota but it is really buttery, in a way that's almost starting to annoy me, and I don't know why because I love all sweet rich foody scents!! Anyway I'm glad I tried this but I think perhaps Jalaine's silk might agree with me better.

Simply the best available vanilla - it's really vanilla ,a touch of coconut to round it out . There's nothing better. i tried 'em all. It's subtle but it lasts well .

Holy grail of vanilla worthy for sure! It is simple yet made of quality ingredients that more than make up for it's simplicity. If you want a great, sweet, warm, feminine vanilla scent then try a sample of this. I put it on and simply cannot stop sniffing myself. It is long lasting on the skin as well. It better be for it's price right? FBW for sure, but I'm going to skip the nice bottle and just go for the refill instead to save money. Besides, this gorgeous concoction inside of the bottle is what I'm really addicted to. All I can say is YUM!!!!!!!! Grown-up and delicious!! Date worthy perfume.

a bit too "sweety-sweet" to wear alone - great for layering!

Since The Body Shop discontinued my beloved vanilla oil and replaced it with a crap one about 8 years ago, I have been on a quest... a perfume quest. I have spent thousands of dollars and have smelled just about all there is to smell. Most fragrances I like have a ton of vanilla in them. It is my absolute favorite smell in the world. For some reason I overlooked this brand. But now I have found it, my HG vanilla. It is an oil which my fair, dry skin adores and the smell is so sweet, so golden, so perfect my quest is over. It just has to be. Do I wish the stuff was a little longer lasting and alot less money? You bet. But you get what you pay for. (and hey, nothing lasts forever!) The bottle is absolutely exquisite and so is the blend. If you love all things vanilla, try this. It IS the creamiest of the crop!!! I'm out;-)

I love it! I like to layer it with other jalaine's such as the patchouli or amber. MMmm delicious! I want them ALL!!

I agree with Chanel from Santa Monica. I bought myself a full bottle about a year ago... And have been loving it ever since. A little goes a loooooong way with this. Again.. i think lucky*scents's description is very accurate. Everyone's reviews were also extremely helpful.. i paid close attention... and deciphered that this is something i would really love. And... the bottle is gorgeous.. not that i needed to point that out.

hey, who is this 'Jalaine', and how did she get into the Vanilla Room? huh? she must know somebody. all I can smell are honeysuckle cuttings and some kind of candle from the mall. sorry, Jalaine...

I like this scent, but find it to be a bit cloying and foody. Maybe it's the french vanilla?
By   - from Northern Virginia on 8/7/2007
I didn't like this one at all. It has very funny note to it that makes it smell "off." It has a plastic note to it. Honestly, I think there are many other vanilla choices out there that smell much better and cost much less.

This smells great, but it smells like some one a little older would wear it--not in a bad-old-lady way, I just prefer a little less musk. Exact Friction of the Stars is wonderful! (preferably in cold weather)

I have to agree with the comment below. This smells exactly like Kiehl's Vanilla.
By  on 2/20/2007
Like Sage's "Pearl", this has been likened to Lea St. Barth... I never would have believed it, but I applied a generous amount to my inner elbow and woke up in the morning with the most glorious warm and musky vanilla scent - and it was very nearly Lea-like. How about that?
By  on 8/24/2006
I agree with the last comment. Kiehl's Vanilla is better than this, no wait, it is the same. Save your cash for my veggies.
By   - Farm Worker from Sandusky on 8/19/2006
So this is supposed to be good? If you like petro-chemical crap. What the heck is "vanilla musk" Seriously, it smells like plastic. I think that they use Kiehl's Vanilla Essence to make this.

Jalaine Vanilla is worth every one of the 150 dollars. I must have collected dozens of vanilla perfumes throughout my life, in an attempt to find the perfect one, and Jalaine Vanilla is IT. It has a great lasting power. It smells good after you immediately put it on and even BETTER after it blends into your skin. Even if I had nothing better to do than sit in a corner and enjoy the smell of it, I wouldn't mind. It's absolutely amazing. Buy it!!!

very average buttery blah-blah. trying vanilla in an oil like this sounded ultra-luxurious, and no doubt anyone willing to pay the big bucks for this is all about luxury. to each her own - not what I expected...
By   - medical professional from Alameda, CA on 7/31/2006
a sweet, candy-like vanilla that, although nice, is nothing new. You can DEFINITELY find a cheaper vanilla.
By   - from tampa, fl on 6/15/2006
I cannot praise this perfume enough. It's hot it's sexy! 100% pure vanilla and it's totally seductive.
By   - from Santa Monica on 5/13/2006
Beautiful! Truly exquisite. Rich. Intoxicating. Perfect for every day wear but just as sexy for a night out. I love the kind of scent where you walk into a room and everyone in it gets a whiff of it and kind of turns their head to see who's the one that smells so good. This perfume turns heads! It's a truly gorgeous purely vanilla perfume. Do not be fooled by the scent of the first spritz (it kind of reminds me of the hanae morai perfume ick) but one it sinks in and mixes in with your skin its marvelous. Try also spraying on Pilar And Lucy the exact friction of the stars for an even more beautiful vanilla scent. Gorgeous!

THE vanilla scents . nothing else come close. not foody, not cloying. PERFECT
By   - beauty exec from nyc on 10/12/2005
A holy-grail oil for vanilla purists. This is the scent of fresh vanilla pod being mixed into a bowl of cream: totally natural, subtle & smooth, blooming into a luscious skin scent. Now, if only it were half the price...

Nice smooth vanilla scent, not too sweet.
By   - from San Diego on 7/25/2005
