Here's what other people are saying about Black Gardenia...
I so wanted to love this. Likely due to my body chemistry, but the top notes on me are true gardenia like in my garden, but within moments dries down to something that simply reminds me of unscented soap. Likely beautiful on others. Not as much on me.

Infinity of yes's. This is the most wonderful of scents. And, I have many, many fragrances. Possibly this has satisfied that yearning I have to scent continuously. Thank you Michele Bergman, you have touched my soul in such a special way.

When I first sampled this, I honestly truly couldn't stand it. For a couple years even. Then for some reason that I can't explain, I started to like it. By then of course, it was discontinued. I suddenly became fixated on having a bottle. (I always want what I can't have.) I found a bottle on eBay with half left and bought it. A little goes a long way so half left was perfect for me. The bottle itself is beautiful, and I love how heavy and solid the lid is. This scent is now officially one of my very favorite perfumes, and I will excitedly buy any scent Ms. Bergman creates in the future.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this scent. It is the most feminine , sexy, and delicious of any of the gardenia perfumes. I've tried them all: Kai, Monyette, Sage Pearl and this outshines them all! Warning: highly addictive!

Well, hmmm. All the previous reviews describing candy necklaces, head shops, and even A bit of bug spray have validity. I smell no gardenias, only a strange potion that conjures memories of my naughty youth. This having been said, I rather like it.

I wanted to like it, I love the creamy gardenia of Monyette Paris, and was hoping this would be a dark, moodier version.. boy was I wrong, overtly floral...and it reminded me of when I was a child and I rode the Greyhound Bus - it smells like floral deodorizer covering up greyhound bus bathroom smell. Truly disappointed and glad I bought only a sample. Could be body chemistry, but it just didnt work on me!

Ive been searching for a fragrance for several months, and I have to say, this is absolutely in the Top 5. Perfume oils are truly intricate and complex within their own right, and of the available oils on the market thus far, one can tell this is very high quality. I've never appreciated obnoxious florals or candy-type scents, especially concerning the mid-notes (10 minutes) or dry-down (45 minutes), so thankfully, this scent is very " upper-class."

I think it's a pretty gardenia/candy scented perfume, but unfortunately a few minutes after putting it on, my 8 year old asked me if I had just sprayed Raid. Not what I was hoping for!

Black Gardenia is a totally gormand fragrance. What I do not get is that if you dislike this fragrance, why can't one be a bit classy in describing its undesirability. Thre are so many horridly composed negative comments, that I would totally consider getting it just because of them. This is a very classy web site and I would ask others to respect this even if one dislikes the fragrance.

I really like this, but there's nothing "dark" about it! It smells like bubble gum, bananas, gardenia & tuberose. It smells a lot like Monyette Paris without the heavy Nag Champa. On intial application it almost smells like a linear tuberose fragrance, but the bubble gum sweetness appears quickly followed by a mixture of gardenia & banana. It's a sweet white flower leaning towards tropical.

Absolutely terrible. Sticky, sugar gardenia. Fortunately, there are testers.

Parfum soliflore où toutes les autres notes olfactives entourent l'odeur centrale du jasmin. Parfum tenace qui dure toute la journée. Étrangement, le résultat me laisse sans opinion, pas ravie, pas déçue.

This scent is so dark and mysterious. At first whiff it starts off a little sweet on my skin (think candy necklace with black liquorice or spicy peppery bubblegum). But then, the gardenia intricately weaves it way in and dominates the scent along with a warm spice or amber. The name black gardenia is very fitting. It smells just as one would imagine a black gardenia to smell like. It is striking, intriguing, dark, and mysterious.

Adding my love for this perfume oil. Gothically dark and slightly decaying gardenia. Perfect impression of it. I love it.

Undeniably gardenia. This scent is warm straight out of the bottle and it just simply blends into your body chemistry. There isn't an extreme sweetness to it but more of a buttery amber that compliments the creaminess of the gardenia. Lasts for hours on me without being overpowering.

OOh, this is soooo sweet, and like a previous reviewer stated - it does end up smelling like overly-sweet bubblegum on my skin. I generally love gardenia - I adore Kai, Monyette, Sage's Moonstone, and various other gardenia-based scents, but this is just far too sweet and concentrated for my liking. I found it nauseating.

This scent is absolutely divine!

Black Gardenia is a strange scent. In my book strange is good. I couldn't figure out at first what was giving this gardenia it's "blackness" - you know that gothic/edgy/slightly animalic scent? Then Voila! It hit me that that note could be mousse de chene. It's that same note that I find very appealing in Safron James UME scent. If I was going to purchase UME or Black Gardenia, then my $$ will go to Black Gardenia because I love these notes together. Fabulous scent and Black Gardenia is the perfect name for this perfume.

I can't believe those who doesn't like Black Gardenia, it's one of the most beautiful scents ever. Next to Monyette Paris, this is the best gardenia based fragrance according to my opinion. Sweet but not too in-your-face, rich, sultry and feminine. I only have this as a sample and I have to save up for a long time before I can afford one precious bottle!
