The Scoop
While time travel isn’t (yet) a reality, Xyrena and Universal Studios invite you back to Saturday, March 24, 1984- a morning of detention at Shermer High School- through the magic of scent with The Breakfast Club, the official 40th anniversary fragrance. This entry in the Cinematic Scent Archive™ captures the rebellious, nostalgic essence of John Hughes’ iconic and era-defining coming-of-age drama.
Dry, woody pencil shavings mingle with papery old books and the scratchy industrial carpet of a high school library, while the faint trace of Bender’s smoldering rubber boot soles lingers in the background. Toasted cereal swirled with tangy, sweet-and-sour powdered candy straws evokes Allison’s infamous sandwich, all grounded by an earthy-green whisper of subtly smoky cannabis.
It’s a complex, evocative journey through boredom, angst, and unexpected camaraderie- so good you’ll be begging Vernon for another day of detention. Best applied with a triumphant fist in the air as “(Don’t You) Forget About Me” plays.
