Inspired by the rebellious spirit of the 1970s and legendary films like Apocalypse Now and Indochine, Chinese Tobacco captures the essence of East meeting West. Created by Johan Bergelin, founder and creative director of 19-69, this fragrance is a personal reminiscence of a late night in a Kuala Terengganu restaurant. The air was thick with kitchen aromas, lingering tobacco smoke, and the camaraderie of card games.
The fragrance opens with a bold, invigorating burst of Italian bergamot, crisp lemon, and spicy red pepper layered with aromatic tobacco. At its heart, warming spices of ginger and coriander seed bring culinary energy and depth. The composition settles into a complex, smoky base of coal tar, resinous incense, cedarwood, and earthy vetiver, grounded by creamy vanilla and precious oud for a lingering, sophisticated finish.
