Guava Sorbet

I love this, and even though I own a gajillion perfumes, I wear this almost every day since I got it. It doesn’t strike me as especially summer-y, it’s not fresh, it’s a bit heavy. The opening is a LOT, and I don’t like it much: strong, sour, heavily fruit-y, like a guava on steroids. However, after 10 minutes, it’s GORGEOUS. It’s amber-y, sweet but not too sweet, a bit powdery, kind if hard to describe, but very addictive. I don’t get shampoo, on me it’s not a “clean” smell, it stays in gourmand territory. I get some similarities with the other Brandts, there’s this amber dry down feel to London Fog and Bois de Santal. I don’t feel like the name of this describes it very well except for that first blast. It pays to wait it out!

Guava Sorbet by Brandt smells like something I’ve encountered a hundred times before. It’s sweet, fruity, and immediately reminds me of the body sprays from Victoria’s Secret that were everywhere when I was around 12 or 13. There’s nothing unique or memorable about it, nothing that feels crafted or intentional. It smells basic, like it was blended quickly, without care or creativity. It’s not bad in a way that’s offensive or harsh, but it’s definitely not good either. It just sits there, flat and familiar, offering nothing new.

Smells really nice, but almost reminded me of a cheap shampoo scent. Very adolescent guava scent that I wasn’t too fond of.

Although I ended up really liking this a lot, it was a rough ride getting there. It began with a harsh opening of hairspray and 1980s department store. It never quite reached scrubber, eventually mellowing to a beautiful powder. I've only had it on 2 or 3 hours. so I can't speak to longevity.

I was excited to try this perfume. Initially, it’s so fruity, fun, and vibrant, which I loved. However, it dried down to a very generic, basic perfume and that’s what lingered on me all day.

While I love the fruity sweet scent of this, it doesn’t last long. I can’t smell it anymore on my wrists after less than four hours.
