Scent Bar Staff Video Review for Black Mango

Here I'm holding two new fragrances from BORNTOSTANDOUT's Extre Xtreme line and I figured it would be helpful to talk about these two in the same video because they share quite a lot of similarities but they do have some notable differences that I think are worth touching on.

So the two fragrances are Black Guava and Black Mango and they even have similar names. They're both kind of dark really bold fruity fragrances but Black Guava is a little more sticky and syrupy. Sometimes Guava I think has kind of a boozy quality to it and then it's met with a really modern oud. I would put this kind of in a similar category as Herba Pura for anybody who likes that fragrance.

Whereas Black Mango is a super tart mouthwatering almost like under ripe mango with kind of a leathery oud. It's a really interesting contrast between that bright and vibrant fruit with a really smooth leather. This one to me is a little bit more in like the oud maracuya realm. Both powerful fruity fragrances with oud but just kind of different takes on that profile.

Out the bottle, instantly hits you with ripe mango and overbearing sensation of a worn leather couch. Once I dabbed the cap on my wrist and let it settle, the scent feels extremely well balanced. Equal parts dark, equal parts fruit. I'd definitely buy a full size of this.

This might be the worst perfume I’ve ever smelled, and I am a HUGE BORNTOSTANDOUT fan! The first whiff is so strongly rotten cold medicine that I almost threw up and was nauseous for 10 minutes after. I can’t even put this on my skin because I’m scared I won’t even be able to get it off if it’s just as bad. Please order a sample before buying a full size, I was so excited for this one. It’s definitely mango but in the worst way ever.

I've been on the hunt for a strong mango perfume and tried this because it sounded like a more "sophisticated" take than your traditional fruity patooty mango. But apparently I'm not someone who likes oud notes because even just sniffing the vial I was repulsed (I had the same reaction to Black Guava which I received by mistake). It did actually smell better on my skin, but barely. Got some more mango notes on the initial application, but the bourbon, leather, and oud was so pronounced it basically smelled like a half eaten mango left in a leather purse to ferment... I suspect for folks who are more into those leather-y or oud-y scents would react better to this - but I think I'll be sticking to fruitysweet mango in the future.
