The Scoop

Ganymede, the rocky satellite of Jupiter discovered in 1610 by Galileo, both luminous and covered with salt-water oceans. In collaboration with Quentin Bisch, Marc-Antoine Barrois has dreamt of the essence of this new planet: an elegant and unexpected harmony around a quartet of mandarin, violet, immortelle and suede.

Ganymede once again makes use of the suede-leathery notes that made their first collaboration, B683, an instant classic. This time though, the leather notes become softer, gaining lightness and gentleness in contact with the fragrance of violet. Mandarin still brings intense brightness and vivacity, yet immortelle adds sublime balance, using salty and mineralic tones to act as a striking counterpoint. A galactic olfactory harmony both delicate and balanced, full of energy, sensuality, and contrast, Ganymede is quite unlike any fragrance on the planet- or elsewhere.

Count me in as one who is fascinated and addicted to this very strange perfume gestalt that Quentin Bisch has alighted upon. It almost defies description. A bright accord that is floral and fruitlike, but completely artificial - by design, like flowers from Mars. Then an unexpectedly sweetish smell of immortelle... smelling not unlike maple syrup. Then, the curious stone-like smell. GANYMEDE is famous for like a still-smoking moon-rock that has fallen to earth. Deep in the drydown, an expensive top grain leather note, emerges. Completely unisex, works as both a daytime and nighttime scent.

GANYMEDE is a most unusual perfume. It definitely smells like futuristic space dust. It's what I imagine the silvery powder within an Etch-A-Sketch smells like. Curious burnt mineral notes laced with immortelle in her maple syrup guise while synthetic, shampoo-like florals segue into a suave, meaty suede-like leather. GANYMEDE possesses a wild, challenging scent profile, but I am absolutely in love with it - it is the very definition of edgy niche. Just FWIW: I much prefer the EDP to the Extrait. The EDP seems more balanced, and allows the mineralic tones to shine.

The opening of this is VERY mineral, fresh, somehow nostalgic, and slightly floral. But the drydown is just too odd, it smells like a paper fresh out of the printer on my skin, almost like burnt oil on car wheels mixed with diaper cream. I'm having mixed feelings about this fragrance, not sure I like it.

I can pick out a nicely worn leather, but it’s blasting me with the smell of a freshly opened pack of annoyingly soft toilet paper. Oof.

I saw a TikToker describe this as new car smell, but if it were a flying car in the future. I actually find this to be quite accurate. It's a highly refined, sophisticated and almost austere leather but in a way that's pretty. To me, this is a scent that smells 'expensive'.

I was absolutely shocked by this fragrance. It opens so quizzically and really presents the most luscious supple leather. A total surprise, but it is incredibly light and elegant-- I can imagine refreshing it throughout the day. It somehow does smell like a deep space icy moon. Pure genius.

During a recent visit to the Lucky Scent store in NYC, I had the unexpected pleasure of discovering Ganymede Eau de Perfume by Marc-Antoine Barrois. Originally there for a different cologne, I mentioned my fondness for leather notes and was promptly introduced to this olfactory masterpiece. Gifted a sample, I was soon entranced by its evocative journey through Mandarin, saffron, violet, and especially its deep leather essence. With a glorious scent that lingers for a remarkable 8-10 hours on my skin, I found myself repeatedly enjoying its aroma on my wrist throughout the day. A true gem for leather scent enthusiasts!

I bought this immediately from my fragrance fitting through Luckyscent. It is unique, but in the best ways. It is feminine and masculine at the very same time. For me, I get leather in the background with a fancy high end perfume lingering up front. It is very nostalgic for me from when I was a kid and my parents would go out for the night and give me a hug before they left. Is this for everyone, probably not. But I feel like most people would love it. Projection is great, sillage is outstanding and lasts all day into the night and on clothes etc for days.

Although it's not entirely similar to either, Ganymede reminds me of both Prada Tendre and Gucci Pour Homme II, the latter of which was an obsessive favorite of mine. All of them smell "wet" and have strong tea and pepper vibes. The violet really brings it together nicely. Probably my new favorite.

I won’t lie it’s a pretty decent smell, it smells herb-ally I do get more of a violet scent but I wish I could get more on the others, the scent finishes pretty soft which it’s nice but sadly it didn’t fit my expectations as I’d wish since I truly was looking for it, and it makes me re consider on getting a bigger size due to the price not fitting

I got this a month and had very high expectations, the smell is nice and mysterious but very thin and airy. The raving reviews say that this has monster longevity and projection but In 2 hours turns bitter and dusty, like smelling dry sweat. My bottle is fairly new.. so I wonder if that's an issue with new ones.

I've heard so much about this Fragrance from friends to Fragrance reviewers. It is everything they say it is and worth every penny, for me it was a love at first sniff. The projection and sillage was above average and I got at least 8 hrs on my skin.

Honestly, I've already tried this fragrance before I made a final decision to purchase on "Lucky" and it 100% is matching the price in my humble opinion. In both B683 and Ganymede I see some similarities with Incident Diplomatique from Jovoy but with more dominant metallic and leathery notes in it. It can easily become a signature fragrance for men or women that creates an amazing performance around the owner which if not recognized by everyone but will definitely not leave you without a compliment. Want to say thank you so much to Luckyscent team for such wonderful work with adding all requested samples into my order!

Ordered a sample, absolutely loved it. Ordered 30 ml eau de perfume, which absolutely choked me. I could not wash it off fast enough, it was everywhere...did not fade but I was enveloped in it to the point of having to take a shower to wash it away. I will, however, get another tester. Perhaps, it is the stronger eau de perfume, which is too much for me. The softer version is really fabulous, feminine and soft. I am not even sure how to explain it.

I ordered a sample of this. When I first put it on the leather and wood notes are the dominate notes but the dry down is a softer slightly salty floral that lasts through the next morning. While I am not a fan of the leather on me the dry down is beautiful.

I want to smell like this every day for the rest of my life. Honestly, this smells like an old sea god that's come out of the ocean to find a lover in the forest. It's sexy in a very mythical way. The opening is gorgeous, and once it settles in it takes on this sort of salty, sundrenched, antique wicker. The longevity on this is also incredible. I've put this on in the morning and still been able to smell it 48 hours later. My only complaint - and the only reason I don't smell like this every day - is that the projection is a bit more than I tend to like. I prefer scents that stay very close, while this scent will definitely announce your presence.

A citrusy, violety, woody, powdery suede. Mineral and ozonic notes add something special, that is harder to describe. I don't know if it's the mineral note, or if there is ambergris in here as well. But, there is a salty almost animalic note (very subtle and well blended) at the mid-point. You just have to try it and see if it's for you. To me, this is absolutely beautiful. FB worthy. Longevity is really good- approx 7 hours before it became a skin scent
