Scent Bar Staff Video Review for Hana no Oto

Video Transcript

Here we have Hana no Oto by Di Ser, which is an interesting house from Japan because they are an all-natural house. This means that they basically use essential oils and natural distillations in combination with perfumer’s alcohol. A lot of the times their fragrances are intentionally a little shorter lived; they're supposed to be more meditative and fleeting. But they are quite unique in the way that their fragrances smell. A lot of the time, they have a kind of interesting astringent bitterness to them.

This one in particular showcases the Japanese rose flower, and so it sort of gives you a unique take on rose that's a lot greener, a little bit more bitter, with also oud that they use. But it's not your kind of barnyard animalic oud, just kind of like dark murky woods with a little bit of decay in it. So it's actually really beautiful. After a long day of smelling fragrances all day in here, I like to put this on because it actually is gone by the time I go to bed, and I think that's kind of beautiful.

This is so beautiful! I ordered four samples of DiSer's fragrances because they are natural and created with no ISO E Super or other synthetic aroma chemicals. The perfume has a unique delicate floral essence with an amazing woody note that uplifts your spirit and consciousness. The agarwood blends so well with the lemon, rose, and jasmine and the precious oils play together in an awesome way on the skin. I do feel the essence of Japan - the beautiful delicacy in this! The quality of this natural perfume is superb!

I’m already on my 2cd FB and have tested all Di Ser’s other frags. This one is my current fave by a long shot — I’d bathe in it if it would increase its longevity tho. It’s so addictive that sometimes I think it should come in powered form with a rolled up bill and razor blade. It seriously does go straight to the dopamine levels. Am ordering a 3rd bottle as back-up.

I have just a sample of this, but I find it fascinating. To me, it opens like a smokey, woody campfire with an under note of flowers. The oud here blends well with the hinoki wood, and feels rich and complex. As it dries down, the smokiness fades and I smell a drier woody scent with, again, a faint floral underneath. I’ve never smelled anything else like this, and I’ve recently decided that oud is not for me. The complexity and richness of this fragrance make it classy and elegant. I would definitely purchase a full bottle, as this would be an incredible evening scent.
