Moth is the cool glooms and musty melancholy of antique lace and silks tucked away with camphoraceus mothballs, there’s a smoky rose musk aspect, the spectral embers of a rose that lit itself on fire for love, or vengeance, or maybe both, and a bittersweet powdery element, like dried honey mixed with grave dust from a tomb. A twilight shadowplay of austere embraces, a haunting chorus of forgotten languages, and basically what you wear to convince the ghosts that you are in fact a ghost.

As a goth, everyone recommends this perfume. It was my first Zoologist scent, which I was so hyped for. I probably should have listened though when they said powdery cause it definitely is powdery and smells like a delicate moth wing. But just not for me. The longevity is there thought, I skin sampled it against Nasomatto’s Fantomas and honestly the longevity was almost equal.

MothRA dear. Gorgeous and yet, possibly hazardous to mere mortals – by turns it is thick, dusty, spicy, smoky, metallic, gasoline-soaked, heated, mentholated, and plush with disturbing juices. This may be Zoologist’s Secretions Magnifiques and I am *here* for it.

I was hoping this smelled like moth balls, but it is very sickly sweet, saccharine, but not in a sugary way. I’ve tried to wait out the opening in the hopes that it’d be more dry and dusty as others describe it, but it turns my stomach and have to wash it off each time I try my sample :(.

My lady said smells like “crusty old man” lol. I’ve read similar descriptions… smells like “old medicine cabinet” or like “grandpa’s old cologne bottles floating in a flooded basement.” I think I’m growing fond of it. I work outdoors, I’d say definitely not for the office. Is this what happens when my Versace becomes boring and I can’t smell it anymore?, I become a dusty old moth?? Oh, well... Moth on, eccentric one.

This is definitely a moth. Their powdery soft bodies dancing around a dust covered light. Then once that dried down, there was a spicy incense that gently lingered in an old bookstore. Not something I would wear going out, but moreso to sleep with. Not my favorite of Zoologist, but I can see why people really enjoy this one.

i want to LOVE this sooo badly, but sadly i just cannot get my brain to get past the 'dust' note; it absolutely makes you think of warm dust on a light bulb which is a smell i genuinely love and attracted me to moth in the first place, but unfortunately it smells SO STRONGLY like babypowder on my skin which is literally the only perfume note i cannot stand. i've tried mixing it to bring out the other notes and every time i do it's only that 'babypowder' scent that comes through. if you love babypowder scents you might love this! it is long lasting and for me it doesn't change much like most other 'Zoologist' experiences but projection is just about perfect. i will definitely give it another try if/when they reformulate in the future

I really like this, however, I am not 100% sure I received Moth, as the perfume is not inky coloured. The scent itself is very dense and honey like, with undertones of something inky. I also get a hint of urine. To me it makes me think of a Bat not a moth. I was hoping for more smokey notes but I don't pick any up on my skin.

There's a lot going on in this one, but the upshot on me is an overall impression of walking into an import store and whiffing the incense wall. Very strongly reminds me of unburnt Song of Indian incense cones from the 70s. Very layered, a bit strong for hot weather.

I'm glad that I got a sample of this! I thought I would try this because of a video I watched on Youtube but oh my goodness! It's horrible!! This smells like pure sour medication! If I smelled this someone I'd think that they were living in a damp basement that smelled of mold!! Gonna give Zoologist another try in the future but Moth is no doubt a miss for me!

This is one of those scents where it's difficult to pick out the specific ingredients, because it's so well-blended that it is more of a forest than its component trees. If I had to guess, I'd say the honey, oud, smoke, resins, and jasmine are taking center-stage here. But again, it's really a master blend. When I first applied it, there was a tiny bit of a "fuel" smell to it, with some musky sweetness coming through. Luckily as it dried down, the gas-like element dissipated leaving a harmony of notes----reading as fuzzy, warm, slightly powdery, and a tad spicy. It's very complex and somehow, comforting and sexy at the same time.

Dark, smoky, mysterious. I love this one. Despite all the notes, I mostly detect a smoky strong honey with powder in the dry down. Excellent longevity and you will fill a room with this one.

This scent is one that Surprises me every time i use it, the aroma is hauntingly mysterious and dark, Moth brings me to a place of seduction and sweet surrender, almost a black licorice candy taste that rises to the taste buds, wet rocks, smoky and seductive, I used it before going to bed at night and i was enveloped in pure delight, scents changing from one minute to the next, I could not stop smelling my arms and Finally in a trance of self love I fell asleep. Marvelous - if you like patchouli and earthy scents then i highly recommend this.

the soft flutter of moth wings.. powdery... and very delicate with an earthy vibe how this man captures the spirit of an animal or insect is just...mesmerizing i have not sampled one of his perfumes that i have not loved or been amazed by.
