Eau de Parfum

The Scoop

"Folly!" That’s how the elderly owner of the Lubin Perfume House, Monsieur Paul Prot, described the elephant-shaped perfume bottle that had appeared on his desk. It had been designed for a princess. Spiritual and multilingual, Kismet cultivated the mystery surrounding her background. She reigned over the Parisian parties of the Roaring Twenties for a time, then one day slipped away, never to be seen again. All that remained was the memory of the scent that Lubin had created for her.

And what a scent it is- lush and heady, sweet and intoxicating, wedding the vivacious freshness of bergamot, lemon and nose-tingling petitgrain to a velvety menagerie of exquisite types of rose, all set against smooth, creamy vanilla and sumptuously sensual patchouli and myrrh. Like the now faded-to-legend princess, this Kismet is at once seductive and delightful, exotic and familiar, and altogether ravishing. Another touch of vintage elegance from the house of Lubin.

I adore this perfume. If you like Maison Margiela's "Lipstick on", you're going to find this one to be its smarter, sexier, more complex sister. I prefer this one because it never hits a weird note. Definitely a full bottle purchase for me.

Captivating, hypnotic and mesmerizing, this perfume had me at our first hello. I love how it develops, slow and rich, eventually turning into a mellow blanket that covers my skin. I can't stop sniffing myself. Excellent staying power, but the initial spray is so big, I have a tendency to layer on one spray at a time throughout the day. I wore an Avon perfume in high school that was trying to copy the old Coty Emeraude, and this reminds me of that in the best possible way.

Starts out BIG, but settles down to an amazing fragrance that develops through stages. I am not a rose lover, and this is my new favorite perfume. The roses are kept in check by the patchouli, which, in turn, is enriched by both the rose and the opoponax. Excellent blend and yes, full bottle worthy.
