One of the absolute standout fragrances for me of 2020 is Gris Charnel by BDK. This is my personal favorite from the line. It is this gorgeous, sort of dark, slightly spicy and cozy fig scent actually. There's this wonderful touch of fig, there's a little bit of maybe black tea, just a kiss of earthy patchouli, some nice sandalwood and tonka in the base.

To me it's creamy and cozy. It's like being enveloped and wearing this gorgeous cashmere grey sweater. I just love that idea and that's what I think of when I think of this perfume. Gris Charnel means carnal grey, which I think alludes to a little bit of sexiness. So this is like a not in your face kind of sexy. It's a subtle, understated, warm and sensual fragrance.

Interesting and complex unisex scent. It’s smooth and a little sweet and powdery on my skin. It does have gothic vibes as someone mentioned on Fragrantica. Could be right for some people but it’s not my jam.

I love the scent - a heady fig and tea fragrance. It's perfect for cooler weather, a little masculine, which I don't mind, and definitely sexy. But it doesn't last on me. I'm confused about this, because other reviews mention that it has good longevity. I was gifted a bottle and only get about 2 hrs worth of scent on the skin from it.

I liked parts of this, but overall it was a little too herbal and masculine for me. If you like tea scents, the black tea was prominent in my opinion. It was strong in projection, but too masculine for me.

It's ok. Pretty faint on me, I can hardly smell it after an hour or two. A little sweet, and has a slightly sour undertone on me I don't like, maybe the iris or cardamom?

I'm a fig scent enthusiast and this is the sexiest fig and tea scent I've come across. I found it slightly too spicy and masculine for my taste, but it's divine on my husband. I'd describe this as a spicy, woody, and cozy fragrance great for cooler days.

Unexpected hit. I wanted Rouge Smoking, adult cherry cola scent that I love, but I thought this would be fun, so I tried it. THIS IS BETTER! Fig and black tea are absolutely what I'm getting. I don't like black tea, I don't really wanna smell like bourbon, but somehow with everything together you smell like the boss at a powerful law firm everyone wants to sleep with.

A long time lover of fig fragrances, I finally got a sample of this fragrance while I am exploring my sandalwood era because so many people have talked about the dry down of this fragrance and its creamy sandalwood. Let's just say I tried many other fragrances that have much more sandalwood than this. On me, the fig, cardamom, and tea are the most prominent. It's pretty and won't offend anyone because its unlikely they'll even notice you're wearing it due to a very close projection and sillage.

This scent seems to be so polarizing, and I'm glad everyone isn't wearing it lol. This is a beautiful fig, sandalwood, tonka, jammy, cardamom, tea masterpiece with a sensual, creamy dry down. Absolutely not a gourmand, but completely delicious, sexy, and addictive. For those curious about the difference between this and the extrait, the extrait leans decisively more masculine to me. It's got an aftershave type opening note, and the dry down is very similar but leans more woody. I get no smoke, ashtray, or cheap perfume notes here. Spectacular.

This is a nice perfume... It smells nice... I like it. I would not however buy a full bottle of it... it just doesn't evoke anything inside me... It's simply nice.

One star is being generous. Received a sample of this and it smells like ash tray. I don’t understand the hype around this scent, but eww. I feel this way about many of the Creed fragrances too. Yuck.

The perfume itself smells amazing as I am very familiar with BDK products. As far as the sample bottle I am not satisfied with it because the quality is very poor and cheap. I’d recommend having a regular sample bottle that allows us to spray on our clothes and bodies instead of having a bottle with no head spray. Using my finger to sprinkle the liquid on it is so inconvenient. Please change your sample bottles and use better ones. Also regular samples are 2ml, there was less in the bottle.

Oh my goodness I love this frag so much. This is definitely cardamom forward on me, with the other notes on the edges bumping up the delicious creaminess. The longevity is absolutely astounding. I put it on yesterday in the late afternoon and it's 9:30 in the morning the next day and I can still smell it.

Spicy, jammy, fig&apple tart. What other people are describing as cream my nose is interpreting as butter more than anything else, which sounds weird but does work. And yet, with all of the above, this only alludes to gourmand. This is gourmand in the way Alice Waters or Samin Nosrat's *kitchen* might smell when crafting a magical dessert — with a window open and some unknown spicy floral wafting in — but not gourmand like you're wearing dessert.
