Vetiver Moloko

What I've been wearing lately is this Vetiver Moloko from Ex Nihilo. Ex Nihilo is a really great French brand. They're very luxurious fragrances. From the name, Vetiver Moloko, Vetiver features heavily in this fragrance. Now, of course, most of you already know, but Vetiver is a type of grass, and it has a smell that's a bit earthy and dry, even a little bit like leather, with aspects of grapefruit. I love Vetiver, but typically I don't wear a lot of Vetivers because the more classical style Vetivers, at least on my skin, I find to be unrelenting. Vetivers usually appear more in classic masculine fragrances because they are kind of earthy.

What I love about this fragrance is it is paired with the second part of its name, Moloko, which is milk. It's funny, milk as a note. It's appearing more and more in fragrances in the past few years. I find it fascinating. It's a nice smell because it gives a fragrance creaminess and warmth without necessarily giving it sweetness the way a vanilla might. The brightness of this Vetiver, by the way, it's more that bright grapefruity Vetiver as opposed to the earthy leather Vetiver, much more the kind of Vetiver that I like to wear.

So that brightness of the bergamot and the Vetiver just pairs so nicely with that warm creaminess of the milk, although it doesn't necessarily come across as milky, and there are fragrances out there that smell very milky. I don't wear a lot of Vetivers because I find them to be still on my skin, too strong, and they don't change. The more classical Vetivers do that, but this one's not like that. In fact, it has this really wonderful bright heart.

Apparently, there's Bulgarian rose in the heart, and I love rose notes, although I can't necessarily smell rose in this fragrance, but it's there, and it gives it some soul. And there
