Lilac is one of my absolute favorite scents. It's a beautiful springtime floral and it blooms on a tree. Sometimes people ask if lilac is a white floral. It's not. It's purple, usually. Lilac has a really distinctive scent. It's a little bit powdery, maybe sort of akin to almond in that sense, but it's less powdery than a floral like heliotrope. I would say it's very delicate and fresh and pretty and a little bit romantic.
So now I'll go through a few of my favorites with you. Such a fresh green lilac that's meant to smell sort of like a dewy spring morning. I also get some kind of laundry fresh note from this. It smells sort of like linens drying on a clothesline amidst a field of flowers. Very beautiful.
Lilac by Caswell-Massey is part of the brand's collaboration with the New York Botanical Gardens and this one is so fresh and so pretty. I would say compared to the rest, this one's a little bit more watery, a little bit more green, and a little bit more ephemeral.
Love at First Sight by Nui Nomad is supposed to smell like springtime in Johannesburg, South Africa, so this also has acacia blossoms and ylang ylang, which gives it a little bit more of a creamy character. It also has a really cool passion fruit top note, so there's a really tangy and tart start to this fragrance along with that kind of powdery lilac. Very interesting and so pretty.
Dream Sequence by Marissa Zappos is her reimagining of her previous perfume called Lilac Dream. So if you like that scent, you'll probably like this one. It is different, but there are some similarities. It starts with bergamot and pettigrain, so there's that sort of tart citrus at the top. In the heart you find that powdery lilac and the beautiful florals, but it ends in a kind of soil note. So there's
