In the 1930s, the House of Creed designed a fragrance for the Duke of Windsor. Then in 2009, Creed released it to the public, and it was called Windsor. It was only done in small batches, so it was really difficult to find. It was so rare. But now, it's on general release from Creed, but the name has changed. It's now called Royal Mayfair.

When I first read the list of notes of this fragrance, I thought I knew what to expect. It seemed very old-fashioned British to me. It lists things like Duke of Windsor Rose, gin, limes, Highland Pine. So I thought I pretty much knew what to expect. But once I actually sprayed it on myself, it was a totally different story. I was hit with this blast of eucalyptus or something camphorous. Something in me wants to say that there is lots of tuberose in here because I definitely smell florals, and tuberose is that floral that has that kind of camphorous winter mint quality behind it.

I would say it's a pretty floral fragrance, yet it's paired with all those terpenic notes like Juniper and Pine. So it keeps it from becoming too billowy and too floral. I wouldn't say that it's a traditional feminine fragrance, but I wouldn't say it's a traditional masculine either. It's very well-rounded, very unique. It is what it is.

It definitely has a certain flair, and I wouldn't call it an everyday fragrance. It doesn't really resemble the other Creed fragrances either. A lot of those Creeds have the signature scent that goes through those fragrances. This isn't part of that collection, I'd say. It's kind of the equivalent of having a really beautiful silk pocket square in your jacket pocket. It's not an everyday scent unless you're the kind of person who has that beautiful silk pocket square in your jacket every day.

It's so special, I just love it. Royal Mayfair from Creed.
