Patchouli done right!

The prettiest, most wearable patchouli. Somehow it’s simultaneously a tiny bit sweet, and quite a bit smoky. Is it witchcraft? Or just Marissa Zappas’s genius at work?

Flaming Creature is one of my favorite scents of all time. It’s dark and sensual, but surprising too: a little boozy, a little smoky, a little sweet. Not too heavy-handed with the patchouli, and just enough orange to add some brightness. I was wearing this once and gave my big brother—who is a moody and sweet Cancer sun—a big hug. He paused, leaned in to take a big whiff, and said, “wow, good for you.”

Moody, smoky and ethereal. Stopping to smell some night-blooming-jasmine gave me extra appreciation for this fragrance. It’s so spot on. While the jasmine, woods and smoke are the most prominent, there’s also a watercolor wash of wormwood, adding an enchanting herbal facet and the orange ring-pop accord adds a subtle, citrus, sweetness that really rounds things out.

Wonderful!!!! The orange rounds out the scent. It's not at all sharp or citrusy, more a creamy sweetness (but not overly so). The jasmine isn't quite indolic, but gets some darkness from a smoky aspect which turns mustier in the drydown. I really enjoy this one.
