Scent Bar Staff Video Review for Flos Mortis

Video Transcript

Rogue Perfumery is a brand that is based out of Whittier, California, just a stone's throw from here in Los Angeles. And this fragrance, Flos Mortis, is their Tuberose scent.

You can tell just from the color of this juice that it is a Tuberose-y, Tuberose fragrance. And what I mean by that is if you've tried Savia Bianca from Profumum, then you get this cotton candy, very, very sweet floral quality from that fragrance. It is sumptuous, and this is along those lines.

I would say it doesn't go as deep as Profumum's, but it is still that rich, Tuberose quality that during the summertime it would still be effortless. This does not go syrupy on the skin at all, and it actually has a beautiful, lasting power.

I'm sorry, but I really have to agree with the other negative review here. I was so looking forward to trying this, but there is something about it that immediately and distinctly evokes American octogenarian in the worst possible way. I think there was a time when this kind of scent was was fashionable and ubiquitous, but to a younger generation just can't be detached from older folks and the spaces they inhabit. It gives nursing home to me, I hate to say it.

Gorgeous. Rapturous. Swoon-worthy. Divine. From a hardcore tuberose fan for more than three decades, this is what I want to drown in. Cold lush wetness and wintergreen chewing gum (yes, this is a good thing) overlay the heavy deep thick, creamy, white, indolic floral bloom. My eyes roll back in my head. If this is discontinued I’ll be devastated.

Cough syrup, pennies, and purse lint. Want to smell like a cough drop that's been floating around the bottom of your grandma's purse since last November? Here you go.

Deliciously dark and Gothic. The leather gives it an incense like quality.

This is such excellent execution. A camphorous, indolic jasmine/tuberose combo, remarkable for both the chill and the--for lack of a better word--stoniness that the first half hour evokes are so pitch perfect to the name. It brings to mind a marble statue in a mausoleum. I'm not sure I want to smell like this often enough to get a fb, but this is definitely someone's holy grail.
