Tried this a few times and I simply don’t get the hype. It’s very straightforward, slightly antiseptic, with bergamot at the center. Okay?

I agree with comments that this is a close-wearing, versatile, sophisticated scent. I do not perceive any pina colada aspects. Definitely clean, complex and unisex.

I'm completely floored with how this works on my skin... It smells nothing like what others have described or what I was expecting. On me, it's a hyper-realistic fresh cut grass scent. All of those notes came together and that's what it is, even through the drydown. I was on the hunt for a scent like this: not feminine, not masculine - Just nature. So I'm glad to have found it but it's not what I was thinking it would be. The 4 stars is because it's extremely faint. It's already a soft fragrance, maybe add a little oomph to it.

On first spray, smells a lot like Fresh Sugar Lychee on me (which was my favorite summer scent for a while when I was in college). Dry down is a bit creamier and more citrus, less effervescent. Very, very soft projection, would be hard to over-apply. As with most Byredo, great for office wear or other shared spaces where you want to be mindful of folks who are scent-sensitive, people who like freshly showered smells, or for those who like scents to linger close to the skin, to be enjoyed only for themselves or those they’re intimate with. I do not get any coconut notes on my skin like others. There is an almost imperceptible rubber/plastic toy note in the background that I don’t love.

I absolutely love this fragrance but as others have noted, it completely disappeared after maybe an hour. I love it enough to contemplate buying a full bottle but I just don’t think I can stand the heartbreak.

beautifully 20s without the unwanted elderly grandmother smell. this is rich and heady, but also light and semi-powdery. doesn't give me a headache (that's saying something)

This is my favorite Byredo offering so far. It opens with a light pineapple and coconut as others have pointed out, and then mellows out to a lotion-y, light musk. I would definitely call this a "skin scent" as I have to practically bury my face in my wrist to notice it, but I do find myself coming back to smell my wrist over and over when I wear it.

I can only wear this if I'm going out dancing. I'm so interested to see that it fades fast on others; on me it lingers and takes up too much space unless i'm working up a sweat and moving around a lot. Definitely a bit punchy and narcotic. Like, not love.

This is my favorite scent from Byredo. So many of theirs smell so generic and boring to me. But this one is a sparkly and happy scent that I reach for endlessly in summer. I wear it day to night and, quite simply, it makes me happy. I don't smell the vetiver all that much. For me, I mostly pick up on the citrus notes like the lemon and neroli. I will definitely repurchase this one when it eventually runs out.

I really liked this sample. It is especially nice for a hot summer evening. The citrus became almost pineapple on my skin after some wearing. Interesting and unique.

I am disappointed that Bal d'Afrique doesn't work with my body chemistry — I had high hopes. On me, it opens as full-on Piña Colada (pineapple and coconut). From there, it moves directly on to a pleasant but boring, light musk.

For me, this is one of the fragrances that belong on the "perfect anytime" list. If I smelled this on someone else, I would definitely have to ask them what they were wearing. I generally go for lighter scents (Molecule and Escentric series, Le Labo Another 13, JHAG Superdose), but this one is joining my favorites. It's fresh, it's bright, it's never cloying, and although there is some sweetness, it is also a fragrance that is never cloyingy. It's extremely hard to desribe but I really cannot imagine anyone objecting to this fragrance. Lasting power is great on my skinthat I . I am a migraine sufferer, so I am very careful as to what I wear. This one does not give me a headache.

It’s creamy and citrusy scent that takes you to a warm and sunny day on streets of Paris. It’s very hard to describe it, but it’s also kind of like clothes that cane fresh out of driers. It’s perfect for warm days. My husband calls it “the pheromone” because he finds it extremely sexy on me!

The fragrance is quite nice and unique.. more feminine, for daring, bold, cheeky girl.. I liked it immediately and was going to buy a full bottle. However, it doesn’t last on me, at all!!! I could only smell it for 2 hours, after 4 hours it was completely gone!! Next day I tested it up against Molecule 02 and it failed again. Byredo - 2,5 hours.. Molecule 02 - over 8(!!) hours. How is it possible?..I don’t know (some people say they can’t smell Molecule on themselves). Overall, I love it, a lot.. and wouldn’t mind to reapply it every 2 hours, but only if the price was twice as less. Huge disappointment for me.

My favorite of favorites. Clean and warm and inviting with the right balance of fresh and woodsy notes. Nothing cloying. A lasting smell that lingers on your clothes and skin throughout the day without being obtrusive. My every day staple that I buy over and over again.

Received a sample - I can't stop smelling this! At first there's only the initial citrus notes, disappointing because I was expecting a heady 1920's feel (and I already own a good citrus scent). But then it transforms to something that is almost powder without being powder (amber and musk?). I agree with the reviewer that used the word "creamy." It evokes an image of my grandmother's attic, strangely, a sweet nostalgic feeling. I do enjoy it a lot, it's not what I was expecting, however, given the name, I was thinking something spicier. It is a sort of velvety tiger cub, as the description says.

This one wows on the opening, it is simply everything at once and you breathe it in as deeply and rapidly as you can. After it dries down, I find a strong similarity to Kenzo L'Elephant: Saffron, banana, burned sugar, and underneath that the culmination of an entire spice stall in the souk market. Rich, sweet, elegant, and intoxicating. I think if someone walked by and I caught this emanating, I'd try to take a bite out of them.

I really love this scent. It opens like a pop of champagne, bright and sparkly with citrus notes. I smelled myself constantly throughout the day.
