Sampled this for the first time today and MY GOD!!! This is blew me away!!! I''ve never smelled a fragrance that captures the smells from the beach so so well! The description is spot on! Nothing about this is sweet or lotion-y. This is literally the smell of standing at the beach on a cloudywindy day and the air is cool and crisp with the sand beneath your feet. Just amazing! 10 outta 10 all the way!!!

A friend and fellow not-recovering perfume addict gave me a sample. What a jackpot! The scent is delicious, but what really blows me away is that it lasts so much longer than almost anything I have ever tried. I can''t remember the last time I went to bed with something delightful on my wrist and still had it with me the next day.

Do you remember maybe when you were a young child playing in the ocean and a wave caught you by surprise and salt water would fill every cavity in your head? Followed up by hours of salty pose nasal drip. That’s what this scent does. Interesting ... yes. Pleasant? No.

How can this be? I have ordered several samples of this fragrance and have loved it completely. Finally I ordered a full bottle and am utterly disappointed. Past the overpowering alcohol at first spray, there is nothing. Barely a fragrance at all. I wish I could review the notes but there are none, at least not from this bottle on my wrist.

Yes, this is powerful, and synthetic with a far away ocean feel, when first applied. The first time I applied it on my pulse point as I would do, and it near killed me!!! What upset me the most was the fact that there was smth beautiful there which would almost bring me to tears, but i could not get to it because of its overwhelming initial, to close to my nose blast!!! The next day i only applied it on my wrist, and it was still to much.... The magic happened when i applied it to my ankles, It sounds crazy, but just as walking on the beach with each step i take in the ocean, and it makes me happy. Applied this way, this perfume is nothing more then nostalgia and life once lived by the ocean

This smells just like Neutrogena Rainbath body wash, which I love, but I''m not loving this sample for some reason. Maybe it''s just too strong or too unisex for me. I give it three stars for how long lasting it is though.

Crusty sea salt on sunburned skin after a day at the ocean.

You know, as much as I like reading Luckyscent''s writeups I chuckle every so often at some of their descriptions, "cherubic children''s heads" or some other over the top piece of poetry. However, as soon as I tried this I sat straight and started paying attention to what was unfolding in front of my nose, amazingly everything in Luckyscent''s description is true to the last word. Bought a bottle immediately.Who''s laughing now!

I don''t know what beach you''ve been at, or what kind of ocean you refer to in the description, but it sure isn''t like any I''ve been near.On me this fragrance is not good.I don''t get the water, salt or beachy scents, just a lot of sweetness, babypowder and initially even toiletcleaner.

I was so intrigued by this review, however sadly my sample seems to be mostly a curiously pepperminty mix of myrtle and cedarwood. No salt whatsoever. Shall be trying Fraaagola Saalaaata next, methinks.

low sillage, mild longevity, and I really cannot tell how this has anything to do with salt water or ocean. I just got a clean smelling fragrance that I couldn''t pin down or discern from any other calone type frag. I just dont'' get this one. There''s a basic freshness to the scent. Nothing specific that would remind me of the ocean. I detect no salt, whatsoever.
By   - therapist from ny on 6/25/2012
It''s nice, and soft, and more on the watery bright side of floral than anything else. This scent blends nicely and sticks close to the skin. There''s no sillage and moderate longevity. I don''t smell anything salty or oceanic. I would have to say it''s nice but I just don''t "get" it. Definitely wouldn''t pay $240 for it, that''s for sure.

This is one of the most beautiful perfume samples I have purchased. It''s soft and airy and the ocean and sea salt dance on the skin. There is a note that I can''t quite pick out that almost has a sunscreen quality to it, but not overwhelming. If you are looking for a summery beach scent this is one to try.
By   - teacher from Columbus on 5/21/2012
Oh, and my skin usually eats perfume-strangely enough, in light of some other reviews, this one and the afore-mentioned Fraaagola Saalaaata last forever on me.
By  on 1/29/2012
One of the few fragrances I can stand on me when it''s 100F and the humidity is in the 90s. The other is Hilde Soliani Fraaagola Saalaaata. It has to be the salt, very necessary when you''re sweating your butt off. Plus this one smells just like the Gulf Of Mexico where I live, minus the shrimp of course (I love shrimp, just not as a perfume!) One of my "go-to" fragrances in summer heat.

The sea scent surrounds a man like a woman that exudes mystery. Excellent scent!

My daughter ordered this sample and didn''t like it so I decided to try it. On me, it''s a scrubber. I have a light hand with perfumes and could not get it off. A close friend said it made him think of a too long day at the beach when you have sand in your bathing suit, are feeling "stale", and want to take a long shower.

A very interesting, evocative fragrance. An opening tangy limecitrus has its tangy-sweet qualities quickly modulated by an aromatic note... Some might read this as a "Noxzema" note. A nutty quality whispers and joins the overall cool wild mood. A procession of spices emerge: cardamom, sage, black pepper, clove, bay laurel... but they always retain a cool, distant "faraway" quality. Ultimately, a discreetly powdery pillow remains, like an expensive men''s talc. Unisex, but leans possibly towards the masculine. On the right guy-- the over-30 man who completely eschews sweet or obvious scents--- this is going to be swoonworthy.

This was such a disappointment. I adore salty perfumes, particularly salty aquatics, and the reviews here (standing on the dock on a windy day? salt on skin on a hot day? evokes a day at the beach?) made it sound like it was made for me.Sadly, my ultra-picky skin chemistry strikes again. This smells like sickly sweet baby powder on me, with just the faintest hint of salt if I close my eyes and concentrate. I''m not a fan of powder scents, so I guess I won''t be buying a bottle after all.

Something more about Aqua di Sale, do not think it will smell nice during a hot mediterranean summer, cause it loses all it''s deapth... At least that''s what happened to me. It smells nice again after autumn really came back....

Proud of this Italian masterpiece. Simply perfect.

It seems that this is not a perfume but an artwork. The way it expands on the skin, its culmination point and aftermath, all of it makes me feel like being in antother world. In a way it''s comforting, cause it carries you away..... Though my husband complains it''s too strong and penetrant. It''s strange that some of the previous comments mentioned it''s light, cause actually one puff it''s too much. I decided to use it without spraying but controlling the quantity I use by pouring a tiny bit on my wrists or under the ears. Then soon it turns to a sweet a bit powdery lovely scent. It''s one of the most intriguing perfumes I have ever experienced. I would recommend it to the ones who like peculiar and excentric scents. For sure it''s not a perfume for smelling "nice" or "sexy"

I get the Noxeme cold cream someone suggested earlier but also salty air and suntan lotion that has been on the body all day- seemingly unpleasant but not. Although I am not in love with it I do find it mildly compelling. Interesting to smell on my wrists but I would not want to douse myself in it for others to smell. Most definitely a true marine scent more than most. Worth a sample. Intriguing.

This smells very much like sea air to me. The air when standing out on deck on a windy day. It also manages this without the often off-putting sharp and astringent note I dislike in so many marine fragrances. This lasts well and is very subtly and well done. Recommended.

Secretions Magnifiques meets driftwood meets sickly sweet candy. No thanks, but if you liked Preparation Parfumee you might possibly appreciate it.

"An Asian medicinal cabinet on the shore of the tropics"Very Balearic., all around good scent. This smells like a wilder version of Mr. Hulot''s Holiday. If you have the money to blow, by all means.

Fecund is a wonderful word for this - there''s something almost otherworldly about it - at first note, not sure I loved it, but am sniffing my wrist compulsively. Not a coppertone-y faux scent, it is truly a hot salty sweaty appealing smell. DC is 95 degrees today, and this smells perfect now
By   - Management from DC on 6/27/2008
This is a gorgeous fragrance, I am totally in love with it. It reminds me of surfing with my mom when I was a kid. If you''re looking for a CoppertonecoconutHawaii kind of thing this is NOT for you. It is shockingly expensive, and doesn''t last as long as I would like, but every great love has to have a few flaws.

Opens lemony, then quickly arrives at smelling just like Acqua di Giò. This smells much more like marine perfume than anything truly marine.
By  on 5/30/2008
... if I was slathered in original coppertone and fell asleep on top of my plastic air mattress at the beach , took a quick dip in the ocean and sun baked myself dry , I would smell like Acqua di Sale .
By   - human rights activist from beijing on 5/16/2008
smells great, just like the description but unfortunately it lasts seconds on me
By  on 7/24/2007
This smells like Noxema cold cream. However there is something about it that keeps making me sniff my wrist over and over - something creamily intriguing. I won''t be buying a bottle, but I am saving my sample because I am thinking there will have to be a day when I will want to smell like Noxema - just not sure when that will be!
By   - from Philadelphia on 5/21/2007
The first true marine scent I have found. No coconut, no sun tan oil, nothing sweet or artificial. One whiff of my wrist and I am floating on my back in the Gulf, sun beating down, salt on my skin, seaweed twining around my ankle. It has a depth to it that surprised me - almost fecund quality. And amazing staying power - it lasted through a shower.
By   - from Birmingham, AL on 4/27/2007
This is amazing stuff. It does smell like the ocean. I feel like I could lick the sea salt off my skin. The scent is clean without being soapy or detergent-y. I find it comforting.
By   - from Virginia on 4/9/2007
Medicinal - maybe the algae, I''m not sure. Not what I would call a Perfume, and certainly not something I would purchase at any price much less mega bucks.
By   - Caregiver from Bethlehem, PA on 12/15/2006
This perfume lasts forever on me and my friend and I found it very unusual and quite strong. Irresistable also. How could I have paid over 200$ for a bottle otherwise?!
By   - Sales Manager from San Francisco on 11/9/2006
Well, after about twenty minutes, this scent is undetectable. Too bad, cause it was pleasant, but dry skin has done it this fragrance. Reccomended for oily skins, and those who like very light fragrances.
By   - Student from Manhattan, KS on 10/16/2006
Very ordinary, bog-standard marine accord based on the aromachemical helional. Wonderful description by luckyscent though.
By  on 10/12/2006
This fragrance seems to keep morphing from one salty smell to another: first it''s like wind over seaweed, then it''s like Play-Doh, then like a beach in Maine. Interesting, but not necessarily beautiful.
By   - pharmacist from NYC on 9/29/2006
This is really light and lovely, but it does not smell like the ocean. It''s airy and angelic almost, overall pretty perfume, but it''s really expensive.
