Secretions Magnifiques en Rose? Not quite, but there’s something wonderfully dirty (or at least carnal) about this thorny, metallic-inflected floral. The ginger and black pepper up top give it a needling, angry opening to match the high-drama pairing of jasmine and syrupy Bulgarian rose. Drydown moves quickly into patchouli-incense territory, with cacao keeping things just a little soiled. Goth, but for grownups only.

Love it! This is my new favorite. Gorgeous!

gingery, peppery rose. Slightly jammy and definitely dirty smelling. slightly metallic. One of my favorite roses, however it goes from that raunchy opening to the faintly leathery, cool rose drydown too quickly.

the pepper ginger combo is overwhelming everything else...except the patchouli, and I am not a fan of patchouli.

This is one of my favorite rose scents. It starts off a bit metallic, but that eases after the first 15 minutes to so to reveal a gorgeous dark rose. The cacao/patchouli/incense base comes together almost like a leather scent. Love it.

I usually run screaming from rose fragrances, but this one is a beauty. Warm, spicy, dark.....the rose is red and almost pulpy, nothing like the powdery tea rose scents, and acts as a binder for all the other lovelies going on in this fragrance. Beautiful!

The dry ginger really makes these roses pop! Slightly dark and mysterious, feels comforting on a rainy day and what I'd spray for an adventure on a dry sunny day. Decent sillage and lasts for hours.

I am not a fan of rose fragrances. This one is not too girly, very tough girl chic. VERY EDGY!!

Feminine and mysterious, this starts off almost like an oud, with dominant rose, pepper and frankinscense notes. This eventually mellowed and the patchouli and benzoin start to come through. The perfume has low sillage and decent longevity.

ADORE. but, am also a huge fan of roses and this smelled of roses, but not 'big' rose kind of a soft muted rose. Id definitely buy the actual bottle.

This is a lovely, down-and-dirty rose. Not for rose-haters. Not for the faint of heart. You must love the rose. You must love the skank. No foofy-girlie roses here, this rose rocks!

Still working on my sample but find it to be perfect for a night out on the town with friends... a little zesty, a little sexy.

I didn't smell rose at all and the blood accord was a little too scary. I didn't smell cacao or pepper either. The scent seemed alive and crept around my house even though I had only put a few drops on my arm.

I admire this scent a lot but just can't wear it. As others have said, a STRONG, complicated, long-lasting, rose. It goes on with peppery tones and dries down to rosy musk with vanilla. Ellena's "Rose Poivree" for The Different Company is my fave, with the vetiver that gives me some breathing room.

Just beautiful. A serious, elegant rose with a beautiful base -- strong, but never overwhelming the fresh, honeyed florals. I could wear this anywhere.

This fragrance is a tapestry of rose, jasmine, peppercorn, ginger, vetiver - a thorny tangled weave of soft and hard elements from nature. It is a peppery rose blend all the way through. A mix of crunchy spice and warm florals. The rose tapestry fragrance is softened further by a chocolate/patchouli velvet border. A strange, but satisfying fragrance. The love child of two great rose fragrances: Rose Poivre + Voleur d Roses. There is lots of personality in this blend. It is not for everyone, but fantastic if you can pull it off - well named in honor of the exotic latin actress Rossy de Palma.

Every once in a while you come across a fragrance which completely surprises you. Since I sample this fragrance on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, I not was able to stop thinking about this scent. It has even creped into a dream of mine (Rossy de Palma actually handing me a bottle of this). My first impression of this scent was that it brought memories of grand mother's favorite soap: Maja. The top note is soft breeze of roses. As it warms up (on my skin) hints of ginger and black pepper come to play and tease you. I love how the patchouli and incense notes develop as the protective dragon near the rose bush. They are there but never over powering the beauty of the roses. Rossy De Palma Eau de Protection will make you feel sensual, playful and risky. For the 1st celebrity fragrance from this house, they nail it. I can imagine Rossy herself in any of the Almodavor movies quietly in the background but having a memorable presence.

A dead ringer for Susanne Lang's Red Ginger. Sweet toilet bowl water. :(

So much pepper in the topnotes, and then so much rose in the heart, that I could not get to the base, sadly. It was a scrubber for me.
