I was really looking forward to smelling Lavande Romaine from Perris Monte Carlo as soon as I heard about it, for many reasons, not least because it was designed by the perfumer Jean-Claude Alain who is one of my all-time favorite perfumers and I know he's got a lot of fans. He's done a lot of work as the in-house perfumer for Hermes and you probably know his very transparent, very poetic fragrances that he created. So when I found out that Perris Monte Carlo asked Jean-Claude Alain to design this scent based on lavender, I was very excited to see what he'd come up with.
Lavender is something a lot of people associate with Provence, the Provence area of France, and it's very much Provence in the summertime when you see fields of lavender. The thing that really struck me though when I sprayed this on was this fruit that just sparkles. Now when I read the list of notes, it mentions blackcurrant but honestly, something about the mix of the fruit with the lavender makes me think of either guava or passion fruit and it's just so refreshing.
It gave me almost a feeling like I could taste this. I felt like I was eating a lavender ice cream with a passion fruit coulis drizzled on top of it in the middle of summer and this is basically the scent equivalent of that sensation. It's kind of incredible. I love wearing this.
It does wear lighter. Jean-Claude Alain's style, at least for the past few years, is known to be on the lighter side, very discreet, super elegant, and that's fine with me. I prefer this style of scent. So you're going to wear it the same way you would in eau de cologne, refreshing, put a lot on. Don't expect it to stay for eight plus hours. It's not that kind of a scent. It's much more subtle than that and just so nuanced.
So I can already tell this is going to be something on constant rotation for me and I recommend
