Luckyscent Videos: Noteworthy - Iris

Noteworthy - Iris

Transcript

Iris is such an interesting note in perfumery. Even though iris is a flower, mostly when perfumers use an iris note, they're using the root of the iris, which smells more vegetal than floral. And it always gives a very interesting scent texture to a perfume.

In the case of Crushed Fruit from Regime des Fleurs, mostly what you're going to be getting from this is sweet fruit. But the addition of iris gives it this texture that reminds me of a chewy, fruity, taffy candy. It's so interesting.

In the collaboration between Fugazzi and BORNTOSTANDOUT, the iris is so dry and it starts to smell leather-like. And in this instance, it's combined with those beautiful woods and spices to make such an elegant scent.

I loved the omniscient Mr. Thompson from the first second I smelled it. The sweet iris in this one reminds me a little bit of a classic from Dior called Dior Homme. But where it starts to go a little bit different is in the dry down, when I get this really cozy, milky tea.

Speaking of gourmand, this is Iris Cartagena from Bonne Parfumaire. The iris is so sweet in here and it starts to get so creamy and delicious that this is a full-on gourmand. And this is pretty unusual, in my opinion, when it comes to iris fragrances.

Naked Dance from Oddity and Molecule 01 plus Iris are very sheer, minimal fragrances. With Naked Dance, the iris is so transparent and it's combined with White Musk. So it gives you this fantastic skin scent effect and it smells so luxurious.

But I have to tell you, of all of the iris fragrances that I have here right now, Molecule 01 plus Iris is the one that I wear the most. It has a little bit of a powdery, soapy quality and it has one of the most wonderful textures. And I just feel like a million bucks whenever I wear this.
