Luckyscent Videos: Hexensalbe - Stora Skuggan

Hexensalbe by Stora Skuggan is a perfectly witchy fragrance from this incredible Swedish perfumer. It's based on a witch's flying ointment, which is said to have been hallucinogenic and made with very poisonous ingredients. So this is sort of the olfactive interpretation of what that might have smelled like.

It's very medicinal, very herbaceous, very aromatic. There's rosemary and hemlock and lichen and wormwood and all sorts of sort of dank earthy green herbs. There's also a hefty dose of Salted Black Licorice, which feels very Scandinavian and is a personal favorite fragrance note of mine. I immediately get excited when I see that it's in a perfume.

On skin, you definitely get a lot of that licorice note. So if you're not a fan, I would steer clear. But if you're looking for that anise, fennel kind of vibe, you should check this out. There's definitely a patchouli dry down, so it gets earthier and more spiced and still maintains that herbaceous freshness.
