Luckyscent Videos: Rogue Perfumery - A'Oud Ancienne

A'Oud Ancienne from Rogue is truly a fascinating and beautifully made fragrance. When I first smelled it, I can honestly say it didn't resemble other fragrances that contain real, natural oud. Those words that people always use to describe oud like barnyard, blue cheese, band-aid, none of that applied to this fragrance.

I smelled old wood, almost like I was in a very old building, and it's the smell of the floorboards and varnish and wax. There's castoreum in this fragrance, which might give it a little bit of an animalic growl, but not too much funkiness. And it also gives it this nice balsamic quality, this richness. It's beautiful.

I detect saltiness. I feel like I'm in an old building in San Francisco that absorbs some of the sea air and some of the old timber is just coming through in scent. This is very evocative, and I've never smelled a fragrance quite like A'Oud Ancienne from Rogue. Highly recommended.
