Today, I want to talk about a real classic. It's Jubilation XXV from Amouage. There's something about this fragrance whenever I put it on that reminds me of these old still-life oil paintings. The reason why I love those paintings is because there's a dramatic tension between light and dark and foreground and background. But the overall effect is so seamless. The illusion is so convincing you actually think you see glistens of light.
I remember hearing an art historian refer to the surface of these oil paintings as licked, a licked surface. I kind of think of Jubilation XXV as having the equivalent of a licked surface. It starts off with this wonderful blackberry note, a little bit sweet, of course, and a little bit dark. But the effect of the blackberry is almost boozy. I think of it as a blackberry elixir or something. I imagine it in a golden cup in this still-life painting with just little glistens of light. That gold comes from those beautiful, sweet golden amber resins, specifically cystus labdenum and opal ponics. There's even a touch of honey in this fragrance.
And then eventually in the journey, you start getting into the darker notes. You get into precious woods and this beautiful trail of frankincense incense. This brand Amouage is based in Oman, and Oman is known for its high-quality frankincense. And this fragrance really features that beautifully. The perfumer who designed this is Bertrand du Chauffeur, and he's truly a master. Everything he makes is just so interesting and well-crafted.
This is truly exceptional and brings you on such a long journey. More than most fragrances, it changes quite a lot when you wear it. So you start off with this sweetness from the blackberry and the fruits. And eventually you go into a deeper, darker place with that smoke starting to really emerge from your skin in the dry down. It's very long-lasting. It projects very well. The
