2018 Roxo Tonic

Today I'm smelling Roxo Tonic 2018 by Les Bains Guerbois. So the name comes from their restaurant that's at the Les Bains Guerbois Hotel in Paris. And really I understand why they chose this as the name, it reminds me of a cocktail basically in the best way possible.

So there's a lot of, so it's sort of effervescence to the scent. I would consider it citrusy, sparkling, fresh with a little bit of herbal brightness. So the notes that come through first, the sort of snap at the top if you will, are ginger and this juicy sweet citrus. There is a hint of sweetness here, just the way that natural citrus fruit is sweet with this nice spicy gingery kick and again that sort of pops and sparkles at the top.

There's a nice neroli in the heart and that is combined with this beautiful gentian liqueur note, which you don't really hear about I feel like in that many perfumes. So gentian is a type of herb or root, they use them for all kinds of things and plant medicines and also a liqueur that they make. And it has this kind of bitter herbal quality, so I would say that kind of comes through in this sort of bitter herbal booziness kind of way that I'm really loving in this scent.

And then the base note, there's a little bit of a woodiness in the very base but really what I'm getting the most of is this clean, musky ambroxan actually. So there's a little bit of ambroxan note in there, if you know ambroxan that also gives it this kind of fresh clean lightness. And then of course musk, white musk, so very clean and you know wears on the skin kind of close and really nice.
