Today I want to talk about a fragrance that has been around for a while, but it's new to me. It's Safanad from Parfums de Marly. I absolutely love this fragrance, and I think it's because it kind of reminds me of perfumes that my mom used to wear in the 90s and the early 2000s, like Poem from Lancôme and Classique from Jean Paul Gaultier.

Those are the perfumes that I remember just spraying myself with when I was a kid and feeling like I was more grown up than I actually was, so it has a really personal place for me, but I think even if that's a new kind of profile of fragrance for you, you would love this still. It's just such a cozy, creamy, honeyed orange blossom. Not overly sweet, though, like a lot of other kind of popular orange blossoms right now. This is just wonderful. It feels like a warm hug. It really melts into your skin.

Yeah, I think this is one from the line that doesn't get enough attention, so if you haven't checked it out already, I definitely think you should.

I was torn about this one. It is very strong as we all know Parfums de Marly is... however, this one came off as "old woman" on me. My boyfriend said I smelled like his grandma. This is my first time trying orange blossom notes and I fear they just don't mix with my body chemistry.

I had a private parfumerie introduce me to this fragrance pre 2012. It is still one of the most stunning scents I have ever encountered.

A superfemme floral with no rose or jasmine? You’d think it wasn’t possible based on, well, too many examples to name on the market, but here we are. Pear is a clean, sweet scent that really doesn’t get out enough, escorted here by an honor guard of orange blossom and non-satsuma orange to an orris-framed heart note. (The pairing reminds me a lot of Felanilla, where an unusual fruit note also makes iris sing.) The joy doesn’t stop there, though — the warm vanilla-amber drydown is likewise pretty, but this one avoids the blowsy tendency into which that combination sometimes tumbles.

This is the most beautiful nectar, like a sweet golden haze. I usually like fragrances with a bit more heft, but this is so beautiful I can't imagine changing a thing about it. It's perfectly feminine, lovely, and euphoric--at first sniff, it made my eyes roll back in my head in ecstasy. Glorious.
