Scent Bar Staff Video Review for Rock River Melody

Video Transcript

This is a new fragrance from Regime des Fleurs. It's called Rock River Melody. First of all, I love the new bottle design. This is so chic. The cap is green and it should be a good indication of the scent profile of the scent. It's very lush, green, sappy, resinous, beautiful.

It's inspired by a horseback ride through Fontainebleau Forest in France. I can't say I've actually experienced that personally. So for me, it's like walking along a river with pine trees up above. You get a little bit of a pine sap, all these different shades of green. It's beautiful.

The dry down surprised me because I got a little bit of a patchouli coming through, which very much puts this into a cheaper style of scent. In fact, it kind of reminded me of some vintage fragrances, classic masculine from the 80s, kind of rugged and elegant at the same time. Wonderful shades of green. Even though I said masculine, this is perfectly wonderful on a woman as well.

Rock River Melody.

It's a bit more "spicy" than I was expecting. Ivy, galbanum, and green notes are in there, buried way deep at the bottom. I can't really smell them unless I bring my wrist right to my nose. I think I would have liked this better if it was more green and less powdery. The predominant notes are amber, musk, and sandalwood. I don't get a real rose note, but I would believe it's a very powdery rose. It's a powder done well, doesn't smell like baby powder or talc at all, it reads quietly sophisticated. Eventually, the powder slowly fades, and you're left with a very nice cedar scent. 8/10.

It's a bit more "spicy" than I was expecting. I think it must be the patchouli and sandalwood. If you told me that this had nutmeg or mace in it, I would have believed you. I think I would have liked this better if it was more green and less powdery, but this does read quietly sophisticated to me. Over time, the powder slowly fades, and you're left with a very nice cedar scent. It's not too masculine. It's very pleasant. 8/10.
