Today I wanted to take a look at Nuit de Bakelite. I think that's how you pronounce it. By Naomi Goodsir. It's very austere, kind of like a lot of her other stuff. But I like it because it has absolute irreverence for tuberose. A lot of perfumers love to showcase the beauty of tuberose—the creaminess or the green realistic. This absolutely chops it up and uses it only as a bit player coming in and out of focus.

But it also has this vegetal, almost green bell pepper quality to it. And then it changes into a really interesting tobacco and slight rubberiness, but only for a little bit. Also beautiful, like spiced smoky cedarwood I get from it. And spices coming in and out of focus. Overall, it reads very austere and green with that floral element of that really mentholated tuberose.

The image that comes to mind whenever I smell this fragrance is if you've ever seen a Brutalist building that's starting to be overgrown by nature again. That's sort of the juxtaposition between the concrete and the man-made with nature and very green vegetal. That's kind of how I would describe this fragrance. And if you're into anything super unique, green, or even industrial, check this out. It gets overlooked among all the other strange fragrances that are coming out. But this is a classic fragrance. A classic.

The scent of rain lashing the pavement, turning the early evening streets into a labyrinth of slick, stagnant green. Dead leaves, twigs, and other nameless debris bob in the current and clog the gutters, the smell of things both growing and rotting. A late summer downpour that crawls under your skin, leaving you chilled even in the muggy heat. A storm drain gapes open, its maw lined with slime and moss. A sound, not quite a giggle, not quite a rustle, echoes up from the blackness, and a voice, smooth as rain on stone, slithers softly. The sweet gurgle of a child, warped and twisted into something monstrous. "We all float down here," it echoes, a promise both terrifying and strangely alluring. "Wouldn't you like to float too?"

I am so glad I found this scent after searching for so long for an everyday or signature scent. It is clean, soothing, and reassuring. I love the clean and crisp smell of this scent. Reminds me of a bright morning, clean sheets drying on fresh warm breezes amid wheat fields. No trace of the annoying and cloyingly sweet after-smell many of the perfumes/colognes made today have, I guess to make them seem as if they last longer? The scent stays true and I could still smell it the next day on my bare skin, the same as the moment I put it on. I ordered my FB this morning. Classic scent.

I love the smell of freshly cut grass, so of course I like this! I agree with what I read: it ‘d be a great room freshener.

Une merveilleuse composition. Un marrage étourdissant et surprenant. Une note de fond animale. Un parfum de bonne tenue, même par forte chaleur. A essayer de toute urgence!

Very realistic tuberose in the beginning, you can smell also the stems of the plant. The davana and styrax are in the middle. The leather is light and I don't get much tobacco, just a touch. It's not a very deep or heavy scent. It reminds me a bit of Iris Cendre in its structure, replace Iris with tuberose and lighten up the tobacco and you get the idea. I like it though probably not enough for a FB.
