Oriental Lumpur
Eau de Toilette
by Les Nereides

The Scoop
A heady rush of shifting spices – at one moment nutmeg, at another saffron, then the briefest hint of tantalizing curry. This is the spirit of a grand, ancient marketplace – merchants from around the globe vying for your attention, waving precious oils and spices under your nose until they all blend into one divinely exotic concoction. An exhilaratingly different scent. If you love spice, this one has your name on it.
Oriental Lumpur Notes

This is a unique fragrance and, at first, husband & I both liked it. After the dry-down, it began to smell much more like a man's scent. That said, it WOULD make a great, exotic scent for a guy.

A bit too masculine smelling. The spiciness is overpowered by the soapiness of it. Overpowering.

Well, I have to change my 3 below to a 4. I guess harissa is a wearable scent for me after all since it seems to be growing on me. Today it's very hot, normally a day for something cool and clean, but I found myself craving to wear this. It's spicy and hot but it's a heat that goes well with hot weather, a refreshing heat, not musky or murky or creamy or sweet or any of those things that may seem unpleasant on a hot day. Perhaps it's that soapy undertone I would normally find offputting (not a fan of "clean" scents)

Wow, it really does smell like curry and chili! I've smelled a lot of spicy scents but this is completely original. Not "perfumey" at all but it does have a slightly soapy undertone which only makes it smell like a spice market next to a soap market. I thought I had an unusual taste in scents but I actually don't find this dry, peppery harissa/sambal oelek scent very wearable, and the clean vibe only makes it worse. I smell like I have been cooking with lots of chili and then washing my hands with oriental soap, which is not unpleasant but not what I'm looking for in a perfume.

Veeerry woodsy and masculine on me; I need more sweetness! Smells a little bit like Magie Noir by Lancome, or one of the wood soaps by L'Occitane.

Hey this fragrance is super sexy, and you will never be confused with a restaurant!!! It's very similiar to the new Satellite fragrance, yet lasts longer. Les Nereides has got it going on!!

Every time I open my spice box to cook, I say to myself - "if only I could find a perfume that smells just like this...." and now I have. Saffron, lots of Saffron, tumeric, cumin, corriander - how did they capture the sweet undertone of corriander??? and yes, just a tiny hint of sweet vanilla in the drydown. Magnificent. Just splendid. L'artisan's Timbuktu is in the neighborhood, but some unpleasant and "perfumy" notes in Timbuktu - this Oriental Lumpur is all spice and nothing else. very very very foodie. I think a man could also wear this (it brings back the best memories of my dad teaching me how to cook) - very nice and spicy - but none of that horrible sharp, unpleasant myrtle that turns up in so many men's scents.

Sounds good on paper, but smells mostly like curry on my skin, with interesting hints of nutmeg and sandalwood. Now, while I love Indian food, I don't think I'd want to smell like it.

Smells like a man's scent to me. Very evocative of an Indian restaurant. I was looking for something sweeter, so this is a no-go for me.

verrrry intriguing...I've been looking for nutmeg and the nutmeg in this is strong and fabulous, but I'm not sure how I feel about the curry...mmmm, back to nutmeggy again...definitely interesting.

This is a delicious fragrance - very spicy! It smells almost exactly like Indian food but the base notes round it out and add a sexy undercurrant to the whole thing.
