Eau de Parfum - Leather Edition
You could say Cuir Fétiche is a history lesson. The perfume industry did, after all, kick off in Grasse because the city’s main activity was tanning: to counteract the stench of tanning products, fine leathers were treated with flowers, herbs and resins. Master perfumers were also glove-makers until the French Revolution, a fact reflected in the very name of the house founded by Jean Laporte. It is therefore to the past of his trade and the very identity of his house that Jean Paul Millet Lage, Laporte’s disciple and successor, pays a tribute to with Cuir Fétiche.
This richly feminine leather, infused with a classic rose, jasmine and iris bouquet, exudes the aristocratic elegance of a lovely marquise pulling on her gloves on the way to the opera. You can practically feel the handfuls of flowers crushed into the leather to yield their noble essences. This is a scent from another time, full and lush, classically elegant in the best French tradition. But the leather note, so seldom used in feminine fragrances, gives it just enough chic toughness to make it impeccably modern.
