Here's what other people are saying about Koh-i-Noor...
This is sensational! The deeper notes make it sexy and rich, while the lighter ones make it approachable and wearable. It's both sensual and gourmand. Absolutely worth being my Christmas present to myself this year!

Top notes were absolutely sickening. LS points out that it is animalic - yes, what comes to mind is a dead squirrel in the road. Or the sour smell in a back alley right after a grocery store's daily trash has been removed. Luckily, I had the self-control to refrain from scrubbing, since ten minutes later this nightmare turned into a glorious symphony. Heady whiteflowers perfectly balanced with patchouli, oud and sandalwood. Couldn't stop smelling my wrist. But sadly, after an hour, another change occurred and all traces of the scent disappeared. So I think I will refrain from purchasing an FB - although the heart notes were really special while they lasted.

A potent and enveloping Floriental musk with high quality ingredients, this is in my opinion the finest offering of the fourth batch of Areej Le Dores. The perfume showcases a beautiful animalic musk throughout its development. First the opening is musk and lemon. The dense heart also encompasses beautiful floral extracts (champaca, ylang-ylang, jasmine, gardenia) with woody extracts (oud, tonka bean, sandalwood and patchouli). The perfume finally settles into a powdery base of musk, amber, more florals (jasmine and tuberose) and benzoin. You are immediately transported to the court of a Mughal emperor and this is truly an "attar" style fragrance that is beautifully realized.

I'm probably not the best person to review this fragrance. I think someone with an appreciation of serious vintage fragrances before ingredient restrictions came into play would have a greater ability to describe the unique qualities here. Anyway... It is musky, floral, slightly ambery, and musky in a way that is really beautiful and comforting. It lasts for at least 8 hours. I think about the 20's and 30's and high fashion and incredible quality - furs, diamonds, trunks, bespoke wardrobes, hats, gloves, and luxury suites on ocean liners. It leans a bit feminine, but a man could wear this easily. It feels very special. I say that based on how it literally makes me feel when I wear it.

I was very surprised to abhor this scent. I would still encourage others to try it if it sounds interesting though. Here's why I hated it: on me, this immediately smelled like acrid burning rubber mixed with animal glands, almost like being sprayed with a skunk. Now that I've scrubbed it off, I can smell a smoky patchouli + amber residue (which sounds nice enough), but the complete fragrance on me actually turned my stomach. A real first. To be fair, I think this is more an individual chemistry issue. Nevertheless, it was not only hugely disappointing, but literally nauseating. I can't comment on sillage or staying power because I had to remove it so quickly.
