Here's what other people are saying about Clair de Musc...
You're naked, in a stream, slowly lathering yourself with a bar of Ivory soap. You're absorbed into yourself, the world has disappeared, and there is only you and your skin. Pure, crisp, clear. Clair de Musc by Serge Lutens.

this is the first musk i have ever worn. my olfactory tastes lean in the amber and sandalwood direction, and my body chemistry is rather sweet. although i love smelling mildly exotic and quite androgynous, i was wary that musk -- as a general concept -- would be too "dirty" or "earthy" for me with men's musks, and too "powdery" and "flowery" for me with women's musks. i like that hippy egyptian musk oil, for example, except that i thought it to be too "unsophisticated" and heady. so, all that being said, my 5-star rating for serge luten's clair de musc comes from a musk newbie! i guess, if you are curious about musk, but a little wary, this is a good one to start with. it really is kind of "luminous" and "lunar" and "sheer" -- i mean, we have to be figurative with the sense of smell. my first impression was a "too much like baby powder" but it mellowed out and warmed up significantly in less than ten minutes. i tried this scent first as a sample, then ordered a whole bottle. the atomizer spray vs. the direct liquid dab application actually kind of made a big difference. spraying it onto myself felt like... walking through a cloud. i am originally form the midwest, where it gets very cold, and believe it or not, this scent also reminds me of the smell of snow. like, snow (in suburbia or the country, not a metropolitan area) kind of has a sweet, subtle, watery sort of scent -- or at least it does to my mind. this musk reminds me of that (perhaps imagined) smell. it is a rather feminine scent, but not ultra feminine. I'd say androgynous with a feminine bent. The sandalwood base is light and warm ... not a woody or buttery sandalwood -- it's lighter. the overall scent effect is medium -- it smells awesome fairly shortly after application, but it fades in a handful of hours. it has convinced em to try other musks, i love it so much

A lovely light musk, this is elegant and well-balanced. The musk is matched perfectly by sophisticated iris.

Not the best. Try Musc Bleu by IL PROFUMO which is beautiful.

Good, but not the best. I like montale's white musk much-much better...... but definitely it has something uniqe in it.

t oh, I remember when I sprayed it for the first time... I couldn't stop smelling my wrist. It's luminous, sheer musk opening is so dreamy and beautiful. I adore it's heart of neroli petals and white iris powder... This also lasts a lot longer than I expected for such a transparent fragrance. If heaven had a smell it would be Clair de Musc! I cannot even tell you how many compliments I get on it. It's suprising because I thought it might not have enough "ooomph". But I was so wrong. It is so dreamy, creamy and angelic but it keeps me with my nose stock to my wrist. There is some mystery in this scent and I just cannot stop loving it. When I think of Clair de Musc it reminds me of mountains in Siberia, where musk deer actually is found. Clair de Musc is such a beautiful creation, of course made by our beloved master, Serge Lutens. This is one of my all-time favorites and I will cheerish it forever.

This is nice if you're looking for an uncomplicated "clean" musk. I get just a hint of cinnamon, like Red Hots candy, as it dries down, even though cinnamon isn't listed as one of the notes.

I have to take off two stars only because it has nothing unique about it. For example, Musc Samarkand is a white musk but with a very comforting yummy-ness, Musc by Keilo Mecheri is a musk but some how manages to make me feel georgious, Musc Bleu is a musk that is very clean and airy--etc. But clair de Musc just smells like plain white musk. I still give it 3 stars because it's the most beautiful plain musk I have smelled. It does smell expensive!

Like so many young women in their 20s, I used to wear The Body Shop's White Musk. At some point, though, it changed on me -- turned "animalic" -- and I thought I had given up on musk scents forever. Then I discovered Il Profumo's Musc Bleu, which is a beautiful, fresh-yet-warm white musk. I decided to sample Serge Luten's version before committing to Musc Bleu, and all I can say is that Musc Bleu is MUCH nicer than Clair de Musc! Clair de Musc is sweeter and duller than Musc Bleu -- much more like TBS's musk. Musc Bleu is clean and airy -- perfect for a professor who wants to smell fresh and elegant without overpowering her poor students and coworkers!

I searched and searched for a scent that was The Body Shop's White Musk but more expensive, that is less coarse and synthetic without the slight 70s animalic note that the perfume oil has in its top. I have been convinced on certain occasions that Clair de Musc is this Holy Grail of White Musk, though I remain to be wholly convinced. The one thing I don't like about it is the head with it's uberpowdery cold headiness. I like some powder but I think it's the Iris in it that I don't like. For the first hour I'm nonplussed but once it melts into the heart a little(and alas loses most sillage) I love it. It definitely smells expensive and more "perfumey" in a good and bad way. I wish it had a bit more warmth in the head. It's a little frosty. Those that like powder and white flowers will probably like it.
