Onda Parfum Extrait
by Vero Profumo

The Scoop
The French expression, jolie laide was created to describe Onda. Urbane and bucolic, cool and sensual, Onda is an alluring play of contrasts. The green, earthy aroma of vetiver is blended here with the fiery notes of ginger, mace and coriander. The latter lend vetiver an unusually warm quality, which we find to be very attractive. Add to that a rich leathery undertone in the base of Onda, the undertone that creates a wonderful, beguiling depth and makes the scents exceptionally long-lasting…and you will understand why we are so addicted to this unique creation.

Lots of leather, and too much indole for my taste. BUT!!! For some reason, guys go nuts when I'm wearing this. From the elevator to the grocery store to the gym, doesn't matter where. So I wear it just to turn heads. This scent oddly appeals to something primal in men.

I have to re-review this. The extrait is lovely. Yes, I still get that weird honeyed cardboard thing at first, but then it totally mellows into a lovely soft leather that has a simply meltingly beautiful spice base. It still isn't leathery enough to satisfy me, but I have other fragrances for that. I think this is going on my wish list. Oh, also, perfect sillage and superb lasting power 12 hours +. Smells completely natural and quite perfect.

Big leather lover am I, but I get none in Onda in either concentration. Rather, all I'm getting is honey over cardboard. With the two I've tried (Onda and Rubj) they both smell completely natural and of pure quality. I highly recommend both for the quality and originality, however Onda will not be bumping Cuir de Russie from my regular rotation.

This smells like cat pee and grandma's 100-year-old couch that's never been cleaned. I don't think I've ever worn a more disagreeable scent. I guess that's what samples are for!

By the way "jolie laide" translates to "pretty/ugly and that French concept for unconventional and strange, baffling, beauty is perfect for describing the wonderful Onda. Ladies, DO NOT purchase this looking for a variation on the usual fruity floral. Believe me Onda is it's own thing!

Pure genius. This is what comes to mind: cool wet earth, leather, tobacco, warm wood, smoke. It's pungent, animalic, meaty, rich. All of that is the opening of Onda. I was immediately smitten. I couldn't function because I couldn't tear my wrist away from my nose long enough to do anything. After everything I've read about this, the only notes I could gather from various websites are vetiver roots, ginger, mace and coriander. There has to be more to it than that. This is too well blended for my amateur nose to pick out individual notes, but as the scent dries down, the vetiver emerges. Shortly after, the most unlikeliest of notes comes to accompany it: soft baby powder. As strange and confusing as Onda is, I find it warm and comforting. when I wear it I feel like I'm letting everything that is the best of me emerge. It's unbelievable. This is that kind of scent that keeps me wondering "How did she (Vero) do this?" In my opinion, this scent could one day be as sought after as Guerlain's mysterious Djedi is now. It's that sublime. I guarantee that this is going to be one of those scents where the reviews for it could be split right down the middle. You'll either love it or hate it. I love it. SAMPLE FIRST, this should never be a blind buy, especially for those whose references for perfume are the fruity florals that are currently proliferating the scent market. But if you're interested in scents that are odd and offbeat, with the same kind of audacity that the vintage scents used to have...give Onda a try.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this was revolting, and I'd give it a -10 if that were an option. I can't imagine splashing on old vase water mixed with cigarette butts would smell nice to anyone. Good if you want others to give you a wide berth, like in a movie theater.

This smells revolting on me. It's a mix of things - wet, stale cigarettes, the water that tulip stems have been sitting in 3 days too long (rank and vegetal) and something peppery. Honestly, this smells worse on me than almost any perfume I can remember sampling. I'll give it one star for originality... and because luckyscent doesn't give the option to bestow 0 stars on a scent. Can't believe Turin and Sanchez gave this 4 stars!

This is the first perfume I've ever worn that seems to split into two halves the second I put it on. There's the lovely green vetiver, powdery and fantastic, and this incredibly salty, sweaty, animalic leather from the mace/coriander etc. It's like standing in a field of vetiver after some massive predator has killed something. Toward the drydown, the leather makes a graceful exit, ceding to the vetiver. I don't know how it wears on others, but on me, it's none too ladylike. Just the way I like it.

I love this one, especially the earthy vetiver notes. Wonderfully, grassy and earthy on me.

Revolting bitter-green gelatinous slime in the bottom of the vegetable drawer. Big dif between well composed but not-for-me and disgusting swill. This is the latter.

I have somehow managed to have all three of these scents and they are all exquisite, but Onda is my favorite. I skimped on groceries for a long time. These are truly nice to wear.(Please sample first of course).
