Incense Oud
Eau de Parfum
by By Kilian

The Scoop
By Kilian’s third tale in the Arabian Nights collection – signed by Sidonie Lancesseur who composed the oud-themed Cruel Intentions as well as Straight to Heaven for the brand’s L’Oeuvre Noire series – boasts no actual oud in its list of materials. If Incense Oud lives up to the second half of its name, it is through the interplay between the woodiness of cedar, patchouli and sandalwood and the ambery, leathery accents of cistus labdanum and oakmoss. The incense, which makes up 25% of the formula, reads as a dark presence, its citrus facets magnified by geranium, methyl pamplemousse (a grapefruit-smelling material) and cardamom – the latter perhaps a subtle quote of the cardamom coffee popular in Arabic countries, its anisic facets combining with pink pepper to refresh the scent. Turkish rose oil, though highly dosed, is seamlessly worked into the blend as a counterpoint to the dark woody facets; a cocktail of musks permeate the scent with their soft animalic notes. Exceptionally smooth, polished and full-bodied, Incense Oud may just be the most darkly sensuous interpretation of its starring notes.
Incense Oud Notes
Guatemala cardamom, pink pepper, Turkish rose, Egyptian geranium, methyl pamplemousse, Virginia cedarwood, Indonesian patchouli, Indian papyrus, Somalia incense (oil and absolute), sandalwood, Macedonian oakmoss, Spanish cistus labdanum, musks.

What a scent very rich and sexy. I've been looking for a scent similar to the discontinued Donna Karen Chaos my all time favorite. I finally found it. Very woodsy and warm. Great fall scent. However as much as I love this scent I think i'll just stick to buying samples. It's too pricey.

This is a very pretty, very soft and very light incense fragrance, however it is missing the depth and oomph that other incense parfums have. For me, I find that there is not much sillage after a very short while and it ends up laying very close to my skin, if not simply right upon my skin. I also don't find very much depth in the scent at any time. The incense is present & sweet and there is absolutely no smokiness whatsoever. I think that is what is missing. DK Black Cashmere has layers of flavor, with smokiness. This one, Incense Oud, does not. At $395 a bottle, it should have more to give. If you like perfumes that lay close on your skin that are soft and sweet incense fragrances , you'll love this one. I'm still searching for the perfect one and am sticking to DK Black Cashmere as my incense go to till I do!

I can't say I'm surprised that Incense Oud is FREAKING AWESOME because, really, with a name like that and done by the same woman who did Straight to Heaven, how could it not be? I get cedarwood and rose first, and then some lovely patchouli and labdanum. The smell isn't in-your-face, but it is amazing. The pepper tickles your nose about ten minutes in, but it doesn't detract from the rest of the scents at all. Whereas I can smell StH from five feet away I think Incense wears closer to the skin. It also seems to have better staying power than StH, which lasted about half an hour on me before almost disappearing completely, so that is fabulous. Is it FBW? I think it is, but I won't ever be able to drop $395 on a perfume, so for me it'll just be samples, which is how I went with StH. It's a shame by Kilian is so damn expensive. The price is really the only thing keeping me from buying ten bottles of this fabulous, creamy, heady, amazing scent!

Insanely expensive, but also insanely sublime. Not much Oud, but Incense Oud is my reference incense scent and is the one I would reach for without hesitation in an already strong, crowded field.

WOW! This stuff is amazing. Sexy sexy sexy. Soo good! I can't begin to describe it. Spicy, cinnamon with wood and other deliciousness that I don't even know. Soo expensive. I may have to get the refill and skip the fabulous presentaion. VERY ADDICTING JUICE here!!!

1st impression-cinnamon; 2nd impression-pepper. Then the cedarwood presses through. What I really love about this scent is it's sillage. I put it on at 7 am and it was still with me at 6 pm. I love the Arabian scents and this is quickly becoming a favorite. I'll have to get my fix on samples for now.

Words escape me! I'm really into the niche market, now and this frag is definitely my signature scent. RIDICULOUSLY sexy, long lasting and bold. Sweet and peppery!! This is the Ferrari of frags. Is it worth $395? Don't be silly! NO frag is worth that kinda cash. But, as I always say.....I'm a cologne snob, so I'm buying it!

Incense Oud is a beautiful fragrance. I like many of the By Killian line but this is by far my favorite. Completely unisex and gorgeous!

This was much lighter and more subtle than the two previous scents in this collection, and there is no actual oud listed in the ingredients, strangely. Quite pleasant but I was hoping for an oud incense with more oomph.

if you liked the other 2 by killians composed by the same perfumer "Sidonie Lancesseur" you'll love this one... starts harsh and spicy with lots of incense then becomes very smooth and sweet. Smells like some of the best middle eastern blends sold by Attars in the middle east! you'll have to try this one to see what I mean.

I have a very limited fragrance vocabulary but was attracted to Incense Oud by the name. I wear Comme Le Garcons Incense Avignon and Norma Kamali Incense so was not expecting the Oud sample to be so "green" so lacking in any incense overtones or undertones. Incense Oud combined with the more sulphurous Kamali is awful ditto with Avignon. By itself a lovely complex fragrance but why Incense?
