Russian Caravan Tea
Water Perfume
by CB I Hate Perfume

The Scoop
Tea is a staple of the English diet. What makes tea so popular in England is the experience it offers. When drinking a cup a high quality tea you take time out to relax, reflect, and many times escape into a book or an enlightening conversation. Russian Caravan Tea was introduced to Christopher by one of his English friends, Barrie, who found the exotic tea somewhere on his travels. Christopher recalls sitting by the fire in Barrie’s countryside home with a book and pot of Russian Caravan Tea, savoring the dark, smoky aroma of the tea and the relishing the comfort provided in its steeped charms.
Russian Caravan Tea Notes
Black Indian tea, bergamot and the hint of smoke.

I found this to be a rather vapid rose fragrance. The water perfume had not staying power on me.

I have had no issues with staying power (I have the absolute of RCT and it lasts all day). The sharpness of the bergamot against the deeply savoury black tea is wonderful. The smoke element is lacking, but for me that's preferable (for smoke I'll stick to Timbuktu)

Another gorgeous wintery tea to add to my collection! Not smoky and spicy like "Tea For Two", or fresh and green-tea like "The Pour Un Ete", this is pure, sweetened, black tea. Warm, clean, wintery. Smells like you're halfway up a mountain on a freezing sunny morning and the milk's run out, and you're warming your hands on a tin mug of this. Yum.

Not enough toasty-roasty warmth and the bergamot is like a punch in the face! I *wish* it smelled like a delicate Earl Grey. So mostly it smells like soggy, wet, cheap tea bags that have been hanging around for a few hours. No problem with the lasting power - stuck around way too long and stayed as a single note - no morphing or mellowing. It could be my body chemistry but Demeter fragrances seem to suffer the same fate of being a flat and unimpressive. Bummer, I had high hopes for this one (warm, toasted, smoky black tea with shimmery citrus and maybe an undercurrent of that vanilla-esque creaminess of old books, CB are you reading this??!!). It kind of gives me a headache as well. Argh. My fault for not sampling first.

I really like this one. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't last very long, but with the more concentrated stuff, I might be in more luck.

Meh. I thought I would love this, and the first whiff of the sample was heavenly, but russian Caravan tea it is NOT. The smokiness last only a few short minutes, and then it is all bergamot. Earl Gray all the way. Which is a nice enough smell, but not nearly as exotic. The fragrance lasted maybe 2 hours on my skin.

I've worn Bvlgari Black for years and after trying a sample of this I may switch. The strongest notes are tea and rose, light and sweet but not cloying. I'm not a huge fan of rose but somehow this one comes together into a nice round scent. My favorite of the CB sampler, very wearable for men or women, I think.

I absolutely love this scent. It's the first "tea" fragrance I've tried that actually smells like black tea. I don't get much smoke from this... I find it's a brighter, more crisp scent than that. Wish the longevity was a bit better, but I'll qualify that by saying that I have tried the Water Perfume and not the Absolute. Overall, a beautiful fragrance and definitely full bottle worthy.
