I do like Aoud Damascus, but I am not crazy-fangirl obsessed with it like I am with Montale's Black Aoud. I was expecting something along the sames lines as BA, but the rose in Aoud Damascus is more...girly. It's a lighter, sweeter, cuter rose. It smells good, but I don't want a "good" rose. I want a female serial killer rose. I want Black Aoud: dark, sexy, DEADLY. I've had AD on for about ten minutes and at first the aoud was right there, in front break dancing, but now she's taken a backseat to the cute rose in the white cotton dress who is singing some sickeningly sweet love song. I will probably wear the rest of my vial, but all the while I'll be thinking about Black Aoud.

This is the most subtle of all the Montale ouds and as someone who can't wear many ouds because they smell too strong, this is perfect. The Damascus rose is slightly sweet and provides a lovely addition to the oud. The saffron is subtle and warming.

I took to calling this "Guns 'n' Roses" for its stark juxtaposition of machine-shop and negligee drawer. I can't wear it, but I'm pretty sure I'd nurse an unrequited crush on the tough-as-nails femme who could.

Absolutely beautiful rose fragrance, and very long lasting....but as a male I found it too feminine on me. Great for the ladies, and perhaps on men with the right chemistry to pull it off. 5 stars!

This is the 2nd Montale Aoud scent I've tried. First was Queen Roses--and wow was that an amazing, bottle worthy rose fragrance! Damascus on the other hand was confusing for me. i put it on (using the whole sample vial) and smelled nothing, nada. Then after I left the house my friends said, wow you smell terrific (and not overwhelmingly so), as did my husband when I saw him at the end of the day. So clearly there is something very nice there-I just can't smell it myself!

Bought this wanting a rose scent and was disappointed. I got mostly aoud from this and then spice. If there is a rose note in it, my skin obliterated it. This would probably be perfect for someone wanting a "rose" that doesn't smell like a rose. Anyone wanting a Montale rose that actually does smell like rose should check out "Aoud Queen Rose", "Taif Rose" or "Tea Rose". Having said all this, this is still well done, just not right for my chemistry.

Montale Aoud Damascus is amazing, especially the version from the gold spray bottle, as it smells different from the smaller roll-on version from Montale's sample set. Where the roll-on version smells cloying and sweet, the gold spray bottle version is amazing. My review will be for the version from the gold spray bottle. Like the previous viewer before me stated, at first spritz, the medicinal oud note is strong yet clean, with just a very slight hint of rose. After a short while (5-10 minutes), all the other notes, including the Damascus rose, start to come in and everything is very well-blended. No note overpowers the others; instead they all work together harmoniously. Aoud Damascus smells very regal, and exotic yet very French at the same time. I would say that this perfume is the type that one would describe as "glamorous" and full of va-va-voom.

This starts off with medicinal oud notes laced with roses. It makes the initial wearing feel clean and somewhat cold. As it dries down, you get this nice, close-wearing woody rose with warm leather notes and some sweetness. This is beautifully put together since no one note dominates on the dry-down and it wears close to the body on me. Gorgeous.
